-Damian's pov-

The day has been long and boring. My job was boring. At least the day’s one… Fortunately, between the two of them, I could spend time with my beloved and our son. At the idea, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I breathed deeply before opening the door and entering the narrow entrance hall.

“I’m home, habibti” I said as I put my coat on the hanger.

Nobody responded.

“Habibti?”

Silence.

Worry soon won me as my heart beats faster.

“Raven!” I shouted.

I stuck myself against the wall, holding my breath as the sound echoed through the empty apartment. Something was wrong. What had passed here? Where was Raven? Did something arrive to her? A shiver ran through my spine.
I quickly grabbed the katana hidden behind the closet and unsheathed the knife from my back with my other hand. I squatted, slowly breathing, on the lookout for the slightest noise.

Nothing.

I jumped out of my hideout and landed in the living room, raised swords, prepared to dodge attacks from potential enemies.

Nobody.

I razed the walls to the nearest room, the office. I stuck my ear against the door, but no sounds came out. I went in front of it and smashed it with a kick.

Nobody.

My concern kept growing as I didn't find anyone in the next room, and the next one, and the one after that. My mind began to imagine countless scenarios, trying to find out what had happened. I was coming back to the living room when I noticed something white in the table. A sheet.
Kidnapping was the first thing that crossed my mind; their aggressors had left a note behind them. I couldn't tell then if I was more worried or pissed off. I tried to ignore the new thoughts, hopping that it was false, and took the paper instead. Holding my breath, I began to read the note.

“Dear Damian,

I went out for a walk with Titus and Casimir, I’ll be back soon.
