I've decided to post a FAQ about the entire Monstrous Hearts series! If your question isn't below, comment with it and I'll answer as best as I can! Please note that there are HUGE SPOILERS in my answers here.
(Updated January 2022)
Can Alice get pregnant? Yep! Colton and other vargr aren't sterile.
Why isn't she pregnant after so much sex? Mere chance in Wolf's Wife, and birth control after that.
Will they have kids? *UPDATED ANSWER* Yes! The fourth book with Alice and Colton as the main characters will involve them deciding to get married, and the fifth book will be about Alice's pregnancy with their first child. Neither of these have been written yet, but I'm plotting them out. In the meantime, you can read a little about their life in Shadow's Kiss, where they appear as secondary characters, and there will also be glimpses in The Black Wolf, the novella written through Colton's POV.
*OLD, OUTDATED ANSWER* I've avoided giving this question a straight answer because it's a frustrating one. So okay, here's the short version: I have no idea when they'll have kids. It doesn't happen in the first three books (Wolf's Wife, Wolf's Bane, and Wolf's Kin), but maybe it'll become the focus in a future book.
Longer version: Maybe? I never know for sure what will happen in a story until I'm writing it, so I don't want to give false hope and say, "She gets pregnant with twins in the fifth book," or anything like that.
As hokey as this sounds, the characters decide a lot. Alice has a boatload of mother issues and has never really thought about whether she'd want to be a mother herself. She had no reason to while living with Magdalene, who hated kids. And her life with Colton has been full of so much upheaval that she hasn't had time to think about it.
So it's one of those things where I really don't know how that will shake out. I do think her story will take a lighter, happier turn after Wolf's Kin (I mean, it kinda HAS to with all the shit she's been dealing with for three books now...)
Is Alice immortal since she's different from other witches? Yep! In Wolf's Wife and Wolf's Bane, she can only die if she drowns or is burned in a fire. After Wolf's Kin, she's immortal like Colton.
Will there be more novels/short stories in the series? Yep! I don't plan to end this series anytime soon. So far, I have two more stories about Alice and Colton planned, and side stories for the other vargr mentioned in the series.
Will there be a story about Gretchen? Yep! It'll be called Wolf's Cage, and it'll be a second-chance romance between her and Shane.
Do you have a playlist for Monstrous Hearts? Not yet! I'll link to it here and on my profile whenever I make one.
Do you have a (social media platform name)? So far, I'm most active on here. I'm also on Inkitt under the same username (JulieMidnight), on Instagram and Twitter as @juliemidnighter, and I have a Facebook author page.
It's easiest to reach me here or on Instagram. I never know what to say on Twitter or Facebook; they're basically emergency landing pages in case I'm ever deleted from Wattpad or Inkitt. But on Instagram, I post story extras, writing snippets, and visuals that evoke the kind of atmosphere I go for in Monstrous Hearts.
