Amelia Casterton was never one to reach out of her small comfort zone, but when her parents push her to do something new in her junior year, she has to. Armed with her paintbrushes and an ungodly amount of artistic talent, Mia signs up to help design and paint the sets for East High's production of High School Musical.

It isn't until she gets to the first rehearsal that she remembers her long time crush, EJ Caswell, is involved with the drama department. Mia can't back out in fear of disappointing her parents, so she's screwed.

At least, she's screwed until she meets the heartbroken puppy that is Ricky Bowen and learns she just might be able to survive.
