I woke up in a glass tube surrounded by water. In front of me was an iron door, and below me was bedrock. I looked up and saw someone yellow with black spots all over him. Then I noticed his eyes were red, and angry. I glanced fearfully around me, looking for a way out.

"Looks like the door is the only way out of this place," I thought to myself. "Better do this fast, if I want to escape." I sighed. I had no idea what this thing was, but it looked bad. I had to make it look like I wasn't going to do anything, so the thing watching me would not believe I would run away. I glanced up and didn't see anyone. Figuring it would be the best to escape now, I lunged forward and stepped on something I'd later know as a pressure plate. The door opened and I raced out. The first thing I saw was a magma wall. I turned to the left and saw a corner, then turned to the right and saw a long, straight hallway. "Great," I thought. "Where to go." I tiptoed to the left and peeked around the corner; I saw a dark thing standing there. Well, I wasn't going that way. I turned and darted away making sure to be very quiet I raced down the long hallway, and when I reached the end, I saw daylight.

Freedom. That was all I could think about as I stood there. Then I heard a shout coming from the other end of the hallway, and instantly knew I had to escape. Running to the edge, I looked down the long drop. I noticed some water, and instinctively knew it was cushion my fall. Glancing behind me, I saw the dark thing running after me. I jumped, hoping for the best. I had barely landed in the water before starting to run away from where I had been born, going straight for the trees not too far away. I glanced back, almost tripping over a stick. Both things were chasing me, one doing lightning near me, the other shooting fireballs. I raced to the trees, dodging sticks and leaves, hoping for the people-looking things to give up and go away. Finally, after what seemed to be forever, there was no noise of them following. I could rest. I sat down and leaned against a tree stump, trying to catch my breath. Wait a second... a tree- stump? That wasn't right. Maybe the things were on the other side! I leaped to my feet, and saw another person thing. A green thing.

"Hi!" the thing said. "I'm Green steve, but you can call me Gringo!" (Don't judge, plz.) "Who are you?"

"I don't know. What's a steve?"

"You don't know what a steve is?" Gringo asked. I shook my head. "It's a person, just like you," he explained. "There used to be more of us, whole villages. But my Mom told me they were destroyed by someone called Nightmare Steve. I was following him."

"What does he look like?" I asked.

"Nightmare Steve? He's yellow with black marks all over him and red eyes. And I might as well tell you about his henchman. His name is Dark Steve  He's black all over."

"I think I know where they are."

"Really?" Gringo asked. "Could you help me go there? I don't want to die like every one else."

"No, I don't want go there. I think I'm a creation of theirs gone wrong."
