I.✨
Taehyung was absent for a week, leaving me alone and vulnerable to handsome predators like Jungkook, not like I wasn't in the first place. I felt like a lone wolf abandoned by their pack which never existed, betrayed when a friendship was never built. In other words, I was on my own. I prayed every night that he'll feel better and come kicking the door to protect me. Teens and their imaginations.
Today was fortunate though, a paper airplane hasn't crashed landed on my head. A stuffed monkey wasn't squished into my locker, and Jungkook finally left me alone, or so I thought.
Suddenly a rather obese kid, followed by a lanky one dashed into the room. His mouth was smothered in chocolate and his stench was distasteful and spread throughout the room. He was choking on his own bar, spitting out bits while getting the class's full attention, Miss Park was not around.
"LALISA HAS THE VIRUS!"
All eyes darted towards my isolated desk and I denied the obscure statement out of instinct. This only caused a roar of questions blaring, asking him what particular virus, if it's contagious, and how come I'm the only who has it.
Simply, he explained he overheard his mother talking about a virus outbreak in Thailand. Hundreds were dying due to it's deadly contagiousness, and even the most normal people could have it, including me. That I came here only to get rid of it. They kept themselves on one side of the room, surrounding me like I was fatal. The thing was, we were never informed about a virus outbreak and he must've mistaken it for flue season. All I could do was tuck my chin and turn away.
"That's enough!" Chaeyoung appeared, setting herself a part from the crowd and in front of me.
"R-Rosé! Come back you'll get the virus too!"
"What virus? If there was a virus outbreak, we would be informed immediately. Now get back to class and everyone sit down! Stop tormenting the poor girl, she didn't do anything to you all now did she?"
Rosé sat beside me for the rest of class. Miss Park didn't question the unexpected switch. Instead she switched the organization of the desks and the seating plan. Jungkook was behind me, but Chaeyoung was beside me.
It was the first lesson she taught me. I learned that a person's trust is only meant to be given to the right people at the right time. As years go by, you'll notice the circle becoming smaller, and soon it should stop. It stops, when the willingness of giving your trust to people who don't nourish it and respect it, becomes tiring.
II.✨
Chaeyoung was a blessing, an angel sent from the heavens. An early Christmas present, and birthday gift. After that humiliating day passed, she has befriended me and the bullying had relaxed itself.
Whispers and gossips surfaced the room frequently, whenever we were together. Jeon Jungkook hasn't budged in the purpose of annoying me and the boys never returned.
