Mike Hanlon was able to see the beauty in everything he saw. He could see the beauty in the ugliest of things. Especially Katelyn. Except... She couldn't seem to be able to see how absolutely amazing she truly was...
Katelyn Winters was able to see the beauty in everything she saw. She could see the beauty in the ugliest of things. Except for herself. But... Mike was always trying to convince her of how beautiful she was.

Mike was in the barn with his granddad, shooting the sheep... Again. He still struggled with this part because he knew that all of these animals had their own lives and he would still probably be hurting more than just the sheep that he had shot.
He was standing in front of the poor animal with a gun to its head. The only reason he was able to do this was to repeat the words his granddad had said to him 4 years prior.
"There are two places you can be in this world... You can be out here, like us... Or you can be in there, like them... If you waist time hemmin' and hawwin' then someone else is gonna make that choice for you... except you won't know it... until you feel that bolt between your eyes."
The only reason he remembered those words was because they were etched into his mind ever since they had defeated IT... That horrifying creature. It was only then, when he was about to die, that he realized the true meaning to those words...
Mike then pulled the trigger, not hearing a shriek or anything from the sheep, just the gunshot and it was dead.
Mike handed the gun to his granddad, finally finished with the job.
"Good job son, you can go to your friends..." he said with a smile.
Mike gave him a fake smile before walking away, sighing and looking down. He hated it when his granddad called him 'son'... It reminded him too much of his parents. He used to spend hours on end crying about how he could have saved them, thinking it was his fault that they died. But his friends had convinced him otherwise and he knows that none of it was his fault but there are still nights where he just lies awake, wondering if he really could have helped his parents.
He finally made it to his bike, swinging his leg over the side of it and pushing himself onto the bike. He pushed his leg down on the pedal, starting his way to the quarry to meet his friends.

Katelyn was new in town. She had only met one person there. Her name was Beverly Marsh. She had seen that Katelyn was lost and took her home which just happened to be next door to her and her aunt's house. After the two talked for a while, Bev invited Katelyn to the quarry with them that day, thinking that the other losers would absolutely love her.
They rode their bikes to the quarry, finding all of the boys already there, except for Mike. He had to work at the farm and would be late.
"Hey! Bev!" Richie yelled as soon as he saw the girls come up, "Who's this pretty lady?"
"This 'pretty lady' is Katelyn Winters." Bev introduced, smiling at the blush Katelyn had from the nickname, "She's a bit shy..."
"Ya know, the quiet ones are often the kinkiest ones..." the trashmouth said with a smirk and a wink, causing Katelyn to look down, her face beet red.
"Beep b-beep Richie!" Bill had said, hitting Richie's arm, causing the ravenette to whine and rub his arm from the pain.
Beverly smiled at Bill before looking at Katelyn, "That's Bill, my boyfriend..." she said smiling like an idiot, "That trashmouth is Richie, Then there's Stanley, with the kippah, and Eddie, the adorable shorty, and Ben, he's a total softy, I think you'll be good friends with him..."
"You said that there were 7 of you..." Katelyn said softly, "Mike, you said?"
"Yeah! He's working at his grandfather's farm, he'll be a little late." Ben said, looking at the new girl with a smile.
Katelyn smiled back at him with a nod, "Thanks, Ben."

Mike smiled when he finally made it to the trees by the quarry, starting to go faster, wanting to finally see his friends. He had only been parted from them for 2 days, but it felt like forever because he had to work nonstop, only getting about 4 hours of sleep before he ha to get up today and get right back to work.
Now he could finally go out and have fun with his friends.
He brought his bike to a halt right by his friends' bikes. He saw another bike, one that he didn't recognize. He brushed it off, knowing that he'd meet the new person in a second.
He started his walk to his friends, seeing Bev standing next to a short brunette. He could see Ben talking but he couldn't hear what it was.
He finally walked up to them, smiling at the sight of them all greeting him.
"Mike!" Richie yelled with a smile, throwing an arm around the taller boy's shoulder.
"Hey, Rich..." he smiled before seeing the new girl, "What's your name?" he asked politely."I-I'm Katelyn..." she said with a small blush and a wave, "You're Mike?"
"That's me!" he grinned, holding his hand for her to shake, "Pleased to meet you..." he joked with a small smile.
"Nice to meet you too..." she said with a small giggle, shaking his hand.
Mike couldn't help how his smile widened at her laugh. He thought it was the most beautiful sound ever, and he couldn't help but want to make it happen again.
"Well!" Richie said loudly, interrupting the two's moment, "How about instead of goggling over each other, we all have fun in the sun!" Richie yelled, smiling.
The boys were already in their underwear when they got there, just talking, which Katelyn thought was just a weird boy thing.
Mike smiled and nodded, starting to strip down to his underwear.
Katelyn looked at Bev, who nodded and started to strip down herself.
Katelyn watched the boys jump one by one after she stripped herself of her clothes and was left in just her underwear. Once everyone except he and Bev had jumped, Bev smiled, grabbing her hand and pulling her off the edge with her.

Is this good? This is my first time actually writing with at least a little bit of detail and stuff... I feel like I did okay, but I don't know for sure...
