"Tsumiki-san! Please answer this question."
The girl was startled by the studden mention of her name and quickly turned her attention from the window to the board. She stared at it, lost. 'Wh-what should I do?' She asked herself.
"...Well? Any day now..." Her teacher said impatiently, tapping his foot in a slow, rhythmic pattern.
"Umm.. I.. I'm not s-so sure if I heard the question correctly. Uuu.. I'm s-sorry could you repeated it again please?" She said softly with a slight whimper.
What time was it? What class was she even in? Mikan was very puzzled and tired from a long night of studying medical terms. The super high school level nurse couldn't quite "wake up" yet but that wasn't an excuse to be that lost.
Her teacher let out an exasperated sigh. He was clearly irritated, which frightened Mikan greatly. "A-are you mad at me? Ahh.. I-I'm so sorry sensei! I won't do it a-again I promise!" She desperately fumbled out her words. "It's fine Tsumiki, just pay attention next time around."
"Waah.. I'm sorry.." She apologized once more, wiping her eyes. The nurse had a habit of crying often. You could say that she was more than a little sensitive than others. It was only natural though, Tsumiki had been a victim of bulling for so long, causing her shyness and anxiety to only build up and grow worse with every day. Now that she was in a new school, her anxiety has increased, fearing that the other students would hate her.
Mikan had been accepted into a very precedious school where it was guaranteed you would successful in the future. She was certainly under a lot pressure choosing to attend here but she couldn't possibly pass up the opportunity. Being just a mere nurse, Mikan was amazed by all the other students shsl talents, although she had only met those in her class.
"Gyaha! It's alright Tsumiki-saaan! Ibuki would have gotten that wrong too!" Cried the shsl light club music member.
"Oy! You're too loud." Said a pink haired boy as he covered his ears.
"Shut up!" Squeaked a blonde child-like girl. "I can't stand hearing your gross voices any more!"
"Hey! That wasn't very nice Saionji-san." A red haired girl corrected her.
"No, I actually agree with her for once. All of you should just shut up." The shsl heir said as he pushed up his glasses.
"Hmm? Is this a fight I hear from you? Bring it on!" A brunette turned around with a face thirsty for action.
"No, I'm not interested in fighting with the likes of you." He replied calmly.
"Huh? Why you....!"
"Class! Class!" The teacher yelled, struggling to quiet his class. "Settle down alrea..."
Ring Ring
He was interrupted by the sound of a loud bell, signaling it was time to leave.
"Alright, Lunch! I'm starving!" Owari said happily, almost forgetting she was mad before.
"Heh, whatever. Let's go Peko." A blonde, baby-faced boy beckoned as a gray haired girl followed.
Maybe it was Tsumiki's imagination but, she thought the students seemed to walk out in groups. Everyone had a "pair" or "clique" to go in. Everyone besides her.
Great...
She had no one to call her friend another year in a row.
At least she wasn't bullied by her classmates, excluding that spiteful shsl dancer. That was enough to keep her happy.
As she exited the classroom last and alone, a tear fell from her eye. It wasn't unusual that Mikan was crying. The question was why?
Why?
Something made her sad. The timid girl did not know what.
Why?
Why? Why? Why?
Out of frustration and embarrassment, she ran away, being careful not to trip. She quickly ran into an empty classroom, far from her classmates. She felt ashamed not knowing why she was crying and didn't want to be found.
There, she started sobbing. But the question still remains...
Why?
