Every year on the first day of school East Oaks has a general assembly. Just to inform the freshmen of allthe rules. Being a junior you're probably wondering why the hell I'm even going to this thing then. Well our principle believes that all the other classes should come as a reminded of the regulations in the handbook. So, really I just go because it's mandatory.
The vice principals normally go over tedious rules such as the dress code and the attendance policy. I mean there are some of the handbook that should be reinforced like the whole "no drugs, smoking, drinking and bullying is acceptable in our amazing school. "
If you haven't noticed I'm pretty sarcastic. My mom had always said that I got that from my dad.
I smiled thinking of my parents. My looks were almost identical to my mother's when she was my age. The long curly black hair and my crystal blue eyes, even our smiles were practically the same. She was also pretty short like me. While I was day dreaming about the both of them I turned the corner bumping into an unfamiliar guy. Our books and papers went all over the floor.
"Sorry," I was mortified and disheveled.
"It's my fault...I'm sorry," the stranger said while flashing a nervous smile.
When your only 5'2" everyone is tall, but this guy must be like at least 6 feet tall. Not to mention he defiantly knew his way around a gym. He has sandy brown hair and one dimple on his right cheek. As he struggled to help me with my stuff, my eyes met his amazingly hazel ones. Then something happened, it was almost like time stopped. I shook my head realizing that I probably looked like a crazy person right now; I quickly pulled my eyes out of the trance got the rest of my books and swiftly walked away.
As Steph and I walked through the doors into the gym I glanced back and to my surprise he smiled at me, so I smile back.
Hey maybe who ever that was could get my mind off of Anthony.
And with that thought, I asked, "Hey Steph...Who was that guy that just bumped into me?"
"What?...Oh Him?" She pointed in his direction. "I think his names Tyler. He's new this year...," there was a pause. "Gisele! Don't even think about it. We haven't even gotten through the first day of school, let alone first period. And last time I checked - which was only an hour ago - you said, and I quote 'I still need time'."
"I was just wondering," I lied. "I have to focus on school and work more this year. If Jess notices my grades slipping because I'm too 'busy' with a guy she'll kill me."
Steph laughed as we found seats up in the bleachers, ready to be bored to sleep for the next hour or so.

After the questionnaire section, the assembly ended right at the fourth period bell. Stephine and I weren't mad though because we realized we have fourth period study hall together. This means nothing but hanging out and talking the whole 45 minutes.
On our way to the room Steph went over to a group of friend to talk. she was a social light in the scene that no one hated her and she was never in drama. I was looking though my books and saw that somehow I had an extra notebook in my arms. It was a worn out, old lyric book with the words 'My Songs and Ideas' written in block letters on the front. Seeing as I was alone in the hall I'd thought I'd opened it. So what im a bit nosey...sue me. Then i jumped and snapped the book shut at the sound of someone's voice.
"What's that!?"
I turned around fast to find Steph behind me.
"Oh it's just you," I was breathless from my mini heart attack, "it's Tyler's lyric book I guess. I was gona look though it...do you think I should?"
"I don't know. I mean, it wont kill you...Just do it!" She had an anxious look in her eye
We found seats next to each other and opened the marbled notebook to a random page and I read silently.
'You are my answer but I'm still your question. You fill the emptiness in my heart but I fill you with disappointment.'
The words became deeper and more relatable with each line.
"Steph... he's not just a jock. He's actually a really good writer." A small smile snuck its way on my face. When I looked around the class Tyler was sitting in the back talking with his new found friends.
I can't believe I didn't see him walk in. Now how the hell am I suppose to focus on school with the cute new guy in my study hall. I'll just walk over there and say I picked up his book by accident...yea that should work.
Once I finally got the nerve I went towards the group of guys. I opened my mouth but the words didn't form. Trying again I asked shakily, "Is this yours? Um...I think I picked it up when we ran into each other in the hall before."
"Yeah it is... Thanks. Sorry again. By the way I never got your name. Gisele right?"
"Gigi... and really don't worry bout it," I said shyly.
By this time the other guys in the group had left the table my shyness slowly faded. Tyler and I talked until the bell. At first I felt bad because I left Steph but, she seemed to already be laughing it up with the guys. We were just talking about random things. Stuff like what music we liked and when he moved here. I found out that he's been writing since junior high. It was nice though and not awkward whatsoever.

Like every other year, after school Jess would drive Steph and I back to my house to hangout until her mom got out of work. We'd gossip, eat and watch tv. When we knew Jess was in her room thats when the gossip really started.
"Soooo...What did he say?!?"
"We just talked Steph chill," I laughed.
"Obviously. You guys were in the back for like the whole period. What did you guys talk about though?"
"Just random stuff...did you know he's from Cali?"
"Why would he want to come to Jersey then!?! Like what would make someone wana move away from sunny California?" She looked confused.
"How am I suppose to know that?" I said. "We just started talking today woman!"
"Alright alright let's eat! Where are the Reese's?" Stephine is in love with Reese's.

Everyday after that I looked forward to Study hall. I went to fourth period with a smile on my face knowing Tyler would save Stephine and I a seat in the back with the guys. Steph normally worked on homework from the night before that was due the next period. I gotta say I admire her dedication to procrastination. I on the other hand, would talk to Tyler about anything and everything. We gained a lot of trust in each other in the short time of knowing one another. Honestly it was surprising how easy conversation came between us two.
