"What's your dream, honey bunny?" My mom asked, five-year-old , me as she set me on her lap.

"Why must you ask?" I answered and stared at her with my big sparkly e/c eyes.

Mom chuckled,"I just wanna see. Everyone has a dream. What's yours?"

"I wanna be a hero! I want to save people!" I said with a big smile.

-----Past-----

I walked on the sidewalk, my head bounced up and down as I walked, carring the bags full of groceries. Eleven-year-old me sighed and stared at the plastic bags in my hands.

"When can I getta break?" I whispered and continueed to walk.

I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me so I turned around to see a boy around my age wearing a black jacket, black pants, and black boots. Talk about a bad sense in style. The boy had black hair and scars under each eye and his hands had scars that ended at his fingers.

He stared at me from where he sat on the cold sidewalk. His back leaned on the pink wall of a store. Something about him made me feel empathy for the poor boy. Maybe it was the frown that tugged at his lips or the way his eyes looked sad and tired.

But whatever it was that made me feel pity for him made me blurt,"It's okay! Dreams come true!"

My eyes widened and I mentally scolded myself for just blurting something like that.

"Tch. Your a liar." The boy said rather rudly.

"H-Hey! What gives you the right to be so rude?!" I yelled.

"I'm not being rude. It's just the truth so might as well say it, right?" The boy said with his emotionless face.

I grumbled and asked,"And what makes you think imma liar?"

"What you said. 'It's okay. Dreams come true.' Do you know whats wrong with that sentence?" He tilts his head sideways.

I think for a moment,"N-No!"

"How blind can people be..." The boy mumbles loud enough for me to hear,"Here's what's wrong with that sentence. Nothing's okay. Dreams don't come true. Dreams are just illusions."

I had never heard of dreams reffered this way before, but the way he said it made me want to believe it. I knew it wasn't true, right? There was just no way that the one dream I've had my whole life was just an illusion. The one dream I worked hard for to become true. Was all that an illusion? No, there was no way.

"Th-That's not true! Dreams aren't illusions! They're something that motivates us!" I insisted, trying to knock some sense into the boy.

He chuckled loudly,"Everything that motivates us are illusions. Dreams, words, and pride. They all are illusions."

"And what makes you say such things?!" I asked.

"Must I answer that question?" The boy said in a smart-ass tone as he smirked.

"Yes, you must answer that question!" I yelled and my eyebrows furrowed.

"Fine fine..." he paused,"Someone that meant a lot to me... betrayed me. He used me. Everything he had told me was a lie. I was never important to him."

My eyes widened,"I-I hadn't known this. I-I'm so sorry!"

"Don't be."

"U-Um... I'll be on m-my way now..." I smiled nervously and started walking away.
