JESS's PHOTO ALBUM was a important, daily part of her life

JESS's PHOTO ALBUM was a important, daily part of her life. She made it a point to take however many photos she wanted in a day, but always take at least enough where she could choose one that defined her day or a specific part of her life the best. It was always a point of curiousness of Fran's about why she always carried it with her, a seemingly disorganized mess of photos scattered in a messy, slightly torn, browning paged scrapbook. Yet, each time Fran asked, Jess would simply give her a wry, closed lip grin, telling her, "You'll find out someday Fran. You just have to play the long game, is all." And that was that.

It was even stranger to come from Jess, especially since she was in every other way the most organized and cleanly person in Ocean Bluff. Yet, the most messy, decaying piece of work, aka Jess's scrapbook, was one of Jess's most beloved items, along with her constantly growing collection of beanies. Jess was never seen without it, and the all too bulky, vintage polaroid camera hung around her neck.

Occasionally Jess would take photos of nature, of paintings she found, or even of interesting people she found on the street or vandalized walls, which were sometimes paintings and sometimes cries for help or revolution. However, most of the time, instead of anything ridiculously artsy such as that, she would take pictures of the mundane. Just Fran eating, or RJ's latest cataclysm of bad food ideas, or just people walking out of the store could be the subjects of Jess'  photoshoots. Yet, Jess could talk about them or look at them like they were so much more, even just a little sparkle in her eyes was enough to speak for millennia for the sometimes quiet photographer.

But, each time, Fran even got close to looking at the writing inside Jess' scrapbook, Jess would simply smile as she snatched the book from Fran's peering eyes and say, "Just wait till the end of the year, Fran. Trust me, all of this mystery bs will be worth it. By then, you'll know all about it."
