It was bound to happen. You knew it was coming. Even then, why did it hurt so much?

"Honey? Can I come in?" your mother's voice sounded from behind the door.

Sniffling, you wiped your now red, puffy eyes, "Y-yeah! Just give me a minute."

The UA rejection letter still lay on your bed.

While you opened the door, you forced a fake smile onto your face. As soon as your mother saw your expression, she sighed, "No?"

"No" you replied, your heart and chest heavy.

The tears would not stop, no matter how hard you tried, you would just cry harder. Just like everyone said about you, you were a crybaby.

A million thoughts swirled in your head- none of them good.

'Why did I think I could do this'

'I guess I'm not good enough, no matter how hard I try'

These kept repeating in your head, to the point it was dizzying.

As your mother comforted you, your frail voice broke through the silence, "C-can I call Momo?"

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" she raised an eyebrow after hearing her niece's name.

"Please." your voice ending in a whisper.

She sighed, "Alright, call me if you need anything"

Your fingers were numb as you dialed your childhood friend- rather a distant relative as well.

"Hey (n/n)! How are you!" her voice burst through the speaker.

You cleared your throat, "Uh, good, good. How about you?"

"Cloudy, are you okay? Did you not..... awh I'm so sorry." she said, using your childhood nickname, sensing the sadness in your words.

"Yeah, it's okay though! I'll just make it next time!" you exclaimed, with a false hope.

"Cloudy.... I'm going to miss you.."

"Same here, peachy. But congrats! You made it to UA! "

"I know right!" she squealed, clearly excited that she got in the best school, something you couldn't relate to.

There was nothing you could do, you would just have to try again next time.

It was the day of the Yuuei Sports Festival.

As you stared up at the television screen in awe, you couldn't help but feel a bit jealous. Sure, you were weak as hell, and had little to no control over your quirk, but it would be nice to at least participate!
But you were stuck in a coffee shop, dreaming to be good enough. At least they had your favorite pastries.
