Kunj's POV
VIKRANT CHAUHAN!!
This name had me seething with anger. All the news channels, hell even the fucking radio was spewing glorious tales about the revolutionary software 'HIS COMPANY' had made.
I turn the radio off because I'm sure that if I hear this name once again, I'll end up hitting my car somewhere, and that's the last thing I want at this moment.
I am going home, because sitting there was becoming unbearable. As soon as the news broke out that Mr. Vikrant Chauhan, CEO of Airfell Industries had released MY SOFTWARE as his own, everything went haywire. Everyone was in a state of panic. And as a cherry on the top, my phone wouldn't stop ringing. My absence from the ceremony had pissed the board. Well, I couldn't actually just waltz into the ceremony and say 'Oh! Hi. So, the designs I was to present went missing and now *surprise surprise* they are being telecasted in the news.' This sounds even worse than the cliché high school excuse-my dog ate my homework.
Had I presented the board with the designs, then for plagiarism, Airfell Industries would have sued my company into bankruptcy. Having no option left, I had to apologize to the board for wasting their time, and state that I had no designs ready to be presented and that they were still under testing!!
That bastard Vikrant made me and my company look like a bunch of liars. In one elaborate masterstroke, he managed to tarnish the impeccably clean reputation this company had sported for years. And upto now, his company was No. 2, but with my company being out of the race, he'll be on the top.
If I see him, I swear to god I'll kill him with my bare hands. He shouldn't have messed with my company......the company for which my father toiled and broke sweat every single day of his life. I would ensure to make him and his accomplice, that lawyer girl from the security footage suffer in the worst way possible.
My phone dinged twice, pulling me out of my murderous thoughts. I slowed down the car and moved to the left of the otherwise empty road to check it. There was a message from Alisha stating that she was coming over to my place in some time. Oh! In all this commotion I had forgotten that this news must have reached her also, as she worked at Airfell Industries. This wasn't a problem upto now, because till yesterday, Vikrant was just one of the thousand other business rivals I had. And in the past two years of our relationship, I and Alisha didn't interfere much in each other's professional lives. But now the situation was different. I'm sure she would understand my concerns about her working in that snake's company.
I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't realize I had reached home. I parked my car in the garage, took my files and laptop bag and locked it. It took me a minute or so to open the lock, because my hands were full and impatient. My house wasn't a mansion or anything with sparky-sparky fountains or hundreds of servants. Well since I lived alone, with Bebe (my grandmother) coming and going, I didn't see the logic of having a house full of empty rooms. Though I could easily afford many such mansions, yet I believe that it would snatch away the homely feeling.
Placing the files and laptop on the centre table, I slumped down on the sofa, closing my eyes for a moment, trying to gain some peace. The doorbell rang. I opened the door and was greeted by Alisha standing tall in all her glory. I was tempted to pull her in a quick embrace, but something about her calm, composed and rather emotionless expression that stopped me. It was like the calm before a deadly storm.
"We need to talk Kunj.", she said standing at the door itself.
"Yes Alisha, come on in, I also..."
"I'm breaking up with you. We can no longer be together.", she said keeping a straight face.
I was looking at her desperately, my heart waiting for her to start laughing and say that this was all a joke. But my mind knew better. Her expressions clearly conveyed that she wasn't joking.
Clenching my hands into a fist, I held back my emotions, careful not to let out the traitorous tears that so desperately wanted to escape. I could feel a huge lump forming in my throat. Her words were like daggers piercing me.
"Why?", I asked lightly, trying to keep my voice from quivering.
"Isn't it obvious Kunj. I never thought of you to be such a malicious person who could stoop this low and steal another person's hard work and that too just for an award."
"No Alisha, trust me, it's that bastard Vikrant who stole the idea from our company.", I tried to explain desperately, clinging fiercely to the last thread of hope of saving this relationship.
"Oh at least stop lying now. I know Vikrant and I'm sure he wouldn't do anything like this. He has worked hard to build his company, unlike you, who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Maybe you didn't have to struggle ever that's why you don't know what it is like." "And moreover, it wasn't working out between us, I stopped having any feelings for you a long time ago. Knowing about your true despicable face just proved to be the last straw."
It was not until I heard the door slam shut that I felt my world crumbling down. How....how could she do this to me? Break-up just like that, as if these two years meant nothing to her? I was feeling suffocated. I may not have loved her like the love love, but what was happening at the moment felt like a heart-break. It is as if I can physically feel Alisha step out of the large piece of my heart that she possessed, leaving a giant gaping hole in its place.
It's just a dream, just a horrible horrible nightmare, my heart tried to lie, to pacify me. But everything could not have been clearer.
In a moment of sheer fury, I pushed the centre table, toppling it over. My gaze fell upon the file that landed up on my feet. I picked it up. It was the file on the lawyer Twinkle Taneja that contained all the minutest possible information about her. On seeing the security footage, I had asked Rahul for every little information on Twinkle and Vikrant, from their childhood to their families, everything.
Opening the file, I was greeted by her face smiling mockingly at me. Who knew such a thieving bitch was hidden behind this oh-so-innocent façade? But I won't be deceived. I would make her pay.
I'll make sure that they suffer the same way I am suffering. I would make their lives a living hell.
I will get my revenge.
