Chapter 13

💙Troy💙

I just clocked out. A nigga bout tired than a bitch. I work at this factory. I've been here for 3 months and I think I'm the best employee. They ask me for overtime before anyone else, I got a raise from 15 to 17 in these 3 months, and they've told me that I'm their best.

While I was grabbing everything out of my locker this guy I work with came to me. We're kinda friends I guess. "Wussup man?", he asked.

"What's good?", I asked closing my locker.

"Did you and Grace figure out the gender yet? Stacy been bugging me cause she wants to get y'all a gift."

"We haven't actually, we find out today hopefully. I'll give y'all an invitation if you want. To the baby shower."

"Oh yeah most definitely.", he said. "I'll see you man. Thanks again for the gifts for our little girl. We really appreciate it.", he said.

"Oh no problem.", I said. We dabbed fist then left.

...

I looked at my check when I got in the car. I haven't looked at it since they gave it to me. "Not bad.", I said to myself putting it in the passengers seat. 1,680.

Once I started my car up I saw somebody running to my car. I rolled down the passengers side. It's my boss. "Hey Troy you got one of the bonuses.", he said handing me a check.

"Oh cool thanks man.", I said.

"No problem. See you Monday." He jogged off. I looked to see which bonus I got. It's either 50, 75, 100, 500, 1,000, or the biggest one 2,000. They randomly pick three of those numbers and give them out. The most I've gotten was 100. I looked and my heart damn near fell out my ass. I got the 2,000 bonus. I'm not even gone tell Grace imma just surprise her.

I cashed the checks and got her some flowers like I do every time I get paid then left. I went home and took a shower then I went to Grace's place.

I rung the bell. Her momma opened it a few seconds later. We hugged and said hey and she let me in. "She's in her room getting ready.", she said as she closed the door.

"Okay.", I said before we went our separate ways. I opened the door and went in. She looked at me and smiled as she unplugged her flat irons. "Hey baby. Guess what.", I said as I walked to her.

"Hey babe. What?", she asked before we kissed.

"I got one of the bonuses." She took the flowers and smelt them.

"Congratulations babe I knew you would. Which one did you get? And thank you"

"The $2000 one.", I said.

"Congratulations babe.", she said smiling.

"Thank you baby. Imma put a stack up. That'll take us to how much?"

"Like 10,000."

"Good.", I said smiling. "You ready?", I asked.

"Yup.", she said.

Troy's phone keeps vibrating for some reason. He's not paying attention to it so I won't either. "Would you like to know the gender?", the doctor asked.

"Yes.", I said holding Troy's hand. I hope it's a girl. I snuck and got about $500 worth of clothes. I had to sneak cause Troy didn't wanna shop for clothes and shit like that until we found out the gender but the stuff looked so cute and I'm having a girl before I die so why not?

"You're having a girl.", the doctor said. I smiled hard.

"We gotta stop by my house. My momma got important news that can't wait.", Troy said.

"That's fine.", I said.

"So what's up?", Troy asked his momma as we all sat down.

"Troy I got a call and your father died.", his momma said.

"Okay? I never knew him so I really don't care."

"I know I just wanted to tell you cause he left you in his will." I looked at Troy and he looked confused. "Just call this number." She gave him some paper. He kissed my cheek then got up. "I never told you about his father did I?"

"No.", I said.

"We were high school sweethearts. When I was 19 I found out I was pregnant. He was in college and wanted me to have an abortion cause he wasn't ready but I refused. He kicked me out and changed his number. After I had Troy I tried going to his house and he moved. That's the day I realized I had to try teaching my son to be a man and let me tell you it wasn't easy.", she said.

"You did a great job, your son is amazing." She smiled.

"Thank you. I'm glad he has a girl like you. You guys found out the gender today right?"

"We did. We're having a-"

"Ride with me.", Troy said cutting me off. We looked at him. "I gotta go to this place and talk to some people or whatever I guess so they know it's really me and give me all the information.", he said.

"Let me know what happens.", his momma said.

"Okay."

"This is what your father left you.", the person said showing me paper. I looked at the numbers then held my chest. The person gave me some water. He left me five billion dollars and a house that's set up so everything gets paid for the next 50 years. I looked at Grace.

"Baby we're set."
