“Who is that girl?” Someone whispered at the back of the class in a queasy voice. It’s my first day in in Laker high and I can’t stand it. I came from Timber Ridge High which was right across the world. And right now I’m so nervous that my hands are shaking it’s weird in this school and I can’t even remember this girls name that is sitting next to me, people are staring at me and at the back of the class I spot this boy I use to know his name is Luke and I use to like him. We went out for two years but it’s just a child hood crush were in 11th grade now I’ve got to move on.
I’m looking around the class room and my eyes stop and its feels like my heart does to I look at this boy with dark green forest eyes the kind that make you feel lost, his skin was the color of coffee cream his hair the color of black ink with strands of brown his body the structure of a tall football player and not a single blemish. I guess he saw me looking at him and he waves and gives a sexy half smirk I don’t wave back I just look down and smile and write what’s on the board, but I look back over my shoulder and see something weird it was probably just a trick of the light for a minute it looked as if his eyes went from green to yellow.
The bell rings and it’s time to go to my next class science. I’m on my way to class but I got stopped in the hallway by the boy that I was checking out.
“Hi are you the new girl?”
I say, ‘Yeah I guess.” Clever I say in my mind.
“Right so what class you have next?” he asked me
I looked at my schedule and said “Science with Mr. Chávez how about you?”
“Same here well I guess I’ll walk you there if that’s ok oh and by the way you’re drooling.”
I wipe my mouth self cautiously. “Not really” he said.
“Not funny.” I said giggling.
“By the way my name is Aethelbeorn but you can call me Alec.” He says
I smile than I say, “Ok nice my name is Kimberly but you can call me Kim what your does name mean?”
I look into his dark green eyes and I see him tense up so, I change the subject. Then he says “Oh great here comes Stephanie.” Then I see a girl walking up to us she has honey eyes and black hair with high lights then she says, “Hi Alec who’s you’re friend?” she put on a dumb founded smile and pushes a hair out of her eyes and winks at Alex. “She’s the new girl and her name is Kim.” His face goes dark and he looks away I can tell that he’s uncomfortable with both of us around so I walk ahead of them and glance at my watch I’ve still got 3 minutes till I’m late so I hurry on to class with them trailing behind me.
I see my class and walk in. I look at the teacher and he points to a desk in the back next to a girl with long brown hair with blue high lights and a pointy nose and a pair the cutest boots I’ve ever seen. I walk back there and she smiles and says, “Hi my name is grace what’s your name?” I was about to open my mouth when Alex walked in arm and arm with Stephanie (aka steph)I could see he still had that dark expression on his face and she was flirting with a lot of effort but he was not even paying attention to her he was looking straight at me. It looked like he didn’t know how to walk. I was so lost in thought that I forgot about the question that Grace asked me. I turn around and say, “I’m sorry, my name is Kimberly but call me Kim.” She looks at me funny and says, “That’s Stephanie and that’s her want to be boyfriend he doesn’t like her she likes him that’s the guy that’s likes Stephanie.” She points to a light skin boy with light brown eyes and he’s looking down at his text book trying to ignore the seen that’s going on in front of him. I look back at her and say, “So I’m guessing that Alec and Donate don’t get along.” She gives me a funny look and says, “How do you know his name?” I look back at her and say “lucky guess.” She smiles and says “There goes my boyfriend.” I look at the door and see this muscular tall boy light skin and ocean blue eyes.
When he saw her he came to where we were sitting and she got up and then they hugged. He looked at me and said, “Hi I’m Damien I’m Graces boyfriend.” He says it like if I cared but I didn’t so I responded, “She told me that already and nice to meet you I’m Kim.” He smiles and plants a kiss on Graces cheek. I look back to Alec and Stephanie but there not there anymore so I look around the room only to find out that Alex sits right next to me and she sits behind him. The teacher walks in and tells us to take out our books and turn to page 68 because we had a pop quiz and we could use our books. I hear groans cross the class room. Then he stops and looks at me and says, “Oh I almost forgot we have a new student thanks to her you all don’t have a test today instead we are going to do introductions Damien you’ll start us off.” He walks up to the front of the class and says where he is from what’s his name and he sits back down the same happens for the rest of us except when its Alec’s turn he looks at the teacher and says it’s not my turn to go the teachers eyes look like they’re getting cloudy then the teacher shakes his head and sat down then said, “never mind Alec you don’t have to go.” I look at Alec and he’s sitting in his chair looking at this necklace shaking his head and it looks like he’s about to cry. But then he looks at me and smiles I smile back then look away. And then bell rings and it’s time to go to lunch
I go to my locker and just my luck I have a locker right next to Stephanie and Grace. I try to ignore Stephanie and get my books into my locker but it’s impossible with her giving me tips about my makeup. I slam my locker shut and walk away she stops me in my tracks and says, “I feel some tension between us is everything ok?” I flash her a dirty look and say, “just peachy.” And turn around and keep walking I feel a tap on my shoulder I turn around and before I can even see who was tapping me I say, “No I don’t want to know about how to make my eyes look more …..” I stop in mid-sentence it wasn’t Stephanie who was tapping me it was Alec he gives me a funny look and says, “make your eyes look more what?” I feel my face turn redder than an tomato I look at his eyes then look down and give an embarrassed smile and say, “Sorry I thought you were Stephanie.” I give him a weak smile. He chuckle’s and says “its ok but I wanted to ask if you would be so kind and let me escort you to lunch?” my heart skips a beat I look down and bow and say, “why I would be honored.” We both laugh. And from the corner of my eye I see Stephanie giving me a dirty look.
On our way to lunch I ask Alec a question, “Umm Alec is you and Stephanie an item?” He shakes his head and frowns then says, “No were not she’s just a desperate girl who doesn’t know what she wants.” I feel embarrassed so I put my hands in my pocket and look at tree. He looks at me and links his arm with mine, I smile this warm feeling starts to creep up my arm all the way down to my toes. We go inside the cafeteria and he guides me too the line and we unlock arms he grabs a bottle of water and heads to his seat. I grab a chicken salad pay the cashier and head to where Alex, Luke, Stephanie, Grace, and Damien are sitting. There’s a seat next to Luke so I go and sit there it was a little weird and I knew he felt it to. he didn’t look at me he just looked at his plate playing with his meatball with his fork I frown and think in my head why can’t we just be friends.
As soon as I sit down Stephanie perky self, sparks up a conversation “so did you guys here Drakes new song?” we all look at here and shake are head no. the rest of the conversation was about her, her and oh her. Complete Waco. Alec looks at me and interrupts Steph, “So Kim what’s your story?” I swallow, and say, “Well when I was in eighth grade my parents move to Australia from here then I moved back on my own over here.” I can see Luke getting uncomfortable.
We all ate lunch and head to our next class. I look at my schedule and I got math. When I walk in I see Stephanie, Grace and Alec already there. I go sit next to them, and we start passing notes:
Grace: so did u hear about the party that Christen is throwing this Saturday?
Stephanie: yea I’m going how bout you guys?
Alec: no not my scene how about u Kim?
Kimberly: can’t I need to Unpack maybe next timeL?
Stephanie: party pooper, it’s ok J
Alex: ok well I’m going to finish the, work that Mr. Panicky gave us
Kimberly: me to but if I finish UN packing early I text you guys can I get you numbers
