This book is dedicated to my parents, for being there every step of the way. For teaching me the importance of having dreams and making them realit y.     -Michaela Washington

It was a sunny afternoon in the month of April. The weather in Atlanta had been pretty weird, rainy, windy and the temperature above ninety degrees, all in one week. This had to be global warming at its best. Everyone seemed to be OK with it. The men in shorts and long sleeve shirts and the women wearing long dresses one day and hardly any clothes the next day.

It was just about time for Carrie King to get off work when she received a call from a very familiar number but she couldn't remember exactly who it was. "Hello Carrie" a voice said with excitement. "Who might this be?" "So you don't recognize my voice sweetheart." She than got up from her desk and went into the conference room. "Is this who I think it is?" "Darling it's me Spencer the love of your life." She paused and asked if she could call him back when she got off. He said OK and hung up the phone.

Carrie rushed out the building and headed to her car. Before she reached her car a man approached her and asked for change for a twenty. This was pretty weird to her because he was wearing business attire and had a badge the same colors as her but she never seen him before. He was very attractive and polite, which seemed even weirder because many of the guys at work were old and bitter. She was thinking to herself he must just have started or had been hiding on another floor.

Carrie was the VP for a very large corporation called "Manning." They sold toilet seat covers, which were pretty popular among the U.S. She had been there for almost 5 years now; she went from a consultant to VP in no time. She graduated from college with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Everyone at the company was really impressed by the way she carried the company.

Carrie lived in Atlanta for almost 10 years and had made plenty of friends. Her family lived in Savannah which was only a few hours away. They visited her from time to time but really wanted her to move back home. She was almost 30, had no kids and her last serious relationship was almost two years ago.

On the way home she thought about the guy she had meet and wondered if she would see him tomorrow. Than she remembered she had to return a call. Although she wasn't looking forward to it, she knew that getting it out of the way was important. She throws down her bag and headed for the couch.

Carrie dials Spencer number, she knew it by hart. He picked up right away. "Hey baby, been waiting for your call all day." "What do you mean, you been waiting all day you just talked to me not to long ago." "Well it feels like forever my love." Carrie knew he either wanted something or needed some kind of favor. "So Spencer what can I do for you?" He paused and said, "Can we meet up so I can explain everything?" "Why are you being so difficult, and no we cannot." "Whatever you have to tell me you can tell me now." "I don't have time for your games!" Spencer sighs and says, "Carrie I really want another chance with you, I know I wasn't the best boyfriend but I'm missing you and us."

Carrie walks to the other side of the room to grab a photo album that she had kept in an unknown spot behind the bookshelf. There were a few minutes of silence between the two. "Spencer can you explain why it took you almost a year to contact me and you did this over the phone and not in person." Not thinking about her last statement she waited for an answer to both questions. "Same old Carrie not realizing what comes out of your mouth but it's OK, I still care for." He lets out a small laugh. "Always making some kind of joke, same old Spencer." "Well somebody has to keep you laughing; I can tell you don't do much of that." She then threw herself on the couch; looked up at the ceiling and rolled her eyes as, if he was right in front of her.

"Hey Spencer, can I give you a call later on today or maybe even meet up." She sat up because she couldn't believe what she just said." That works for me", he says with excitement. "So I will give you a call later and we can discuss plans for tomorrow." "OK, my darling I will talk to you in a few." They both hang up the phone at the same time. It was almost time for her to get up and make dinner and then time for bed. She walked into the kitchen, looked in the refrigerator and saw nothing of interest. So she decided to grab something nearby.
