I remember this one night when you're sleeping. It's maybe a week after the crash, and I'll have come up for a second time. You wouldn't have expected me to, of course, or you wouldn't have let yourself fall asleep. You won't trust that I wouldn't take advantage of your weakness.
I don't blame you.
You'll look so different in your sleep, though. Probably because it'll be the only time you'll let me really look at you, without the fiery hatred in your gaze blinding my own.
You'll be the sun, Dio. Everything about you is not of this world. It'll be midnight by the ocean but warm as a furnace, because you'll be there. Crawling under my skin in glorious waves and shudders.
I'll stay for a little while then. Just to see what it feels like. To pretend for a tiny moonlit moment.
Pretend that you don't hate me.
