*Author's note:
This particular piece is not about any of the gods in canonical myth or my personal Lore. It is about and dedicated to my beloved mother, who passed away several years ago. In my culture, we often deify our deceased. And my mother often embodied fairy-like qualities when she was living. She was clever, resourceful and beautiful all beyond what was humanly possible to me. Thus I refer to her as a fairy in this poem.
Mummy, wherever you are I hope that you find peace and know that we will always love you.*

Third of the fae, on this earth you deigned to reside.
Under the stars for years you would bide.
A ring of clearest aquamarine
On the finger of a foreign prince.

Yet in troubled dreams on nights too long,
I knew in this realm you did not belong.
When the lightning and fire beckoned
That was the night I knew you had been summoned.

Three drops of water in an ocean vast
For whom our pining could not be masked.
As you leave for the land yonder,
Do you not fret where will we wander?

Yet we must not hold you in greed;
Your return had long been decreed.
The longing for home you had to heed.
Do not look back as you leave for the aether.
To your earthly children you should not tether.
