"Uugghhh! 6 AM already?!"
I slowly got out of bed trying to adjust to my surroundings, when almost immediately, I started feeling major butterflies in my stomach.  It's probably because today is my first day being a junior, at a brand new high school in Los Angeles.  I hope I don't have that much of a problem fitting in.  "Why would I?" You may ask.  Maybe it's because I was born and raised in good ole Mississippi.  Yep, that's right. I grew up in hillbilly central.  So, of course, I definitely have a southern accent that the people here aren't used to.  You're probably thinking, "Why would that be a problem?" It's because high school is Brutal with a capital B. (Little BTW, I may be from "The Sip", but that doesn't mean I can't have sass).

"Well, I guess I should start getting ready now." I feel like I should wear something that will totally make me stand out.  So, I think I'm gonna go with my high waisted light-blue ripped jeans, with my brown and gold Michael Kors heels. I'll also wear my spaghetti strap, black bralette, and to top it all off, I'll wear my black leather jacket. Yeah. I know. Cute, right?  I lay the outfit on my bed and go get in the shower.  After I'm done and dry my hair, I straighten it, then start my motivational speech of the day in the mirror, after I do my make up, of course. "Sayla, you are beautiful. You are smart and strong. You are independent, and you don't need NO man to make your life better."  Ok, I'm feeling confident. I grab my phone and check the time. "7:30?" Freak! I need to leave. (Oh, and I also don't cuss unless really necessary). I mean school starts at 8 but I still wanna have time to see campus first, I guess you could say.

I run down stairs into the kitchen to get a chocolate fudge poptart and tell for Elaina and Caleb to hurry up and get down here so we can leave.
"Coming!" I hear Elaina yell.
"Caleb did you hear me? We have to leave!" I say with frustration.
"No we dont," he replied, all smart.
"Caleb, get your ass down here right now!" I yell
"Language." I hear my mom say
"Sorry." I reply back.
Caleb and Elaina finally make it down stairs.  I see Elaina, and I'm like dang. "Whoaa girl, you be lookin' like a whole snack." I say
"Well I did learn from the best."
"Aww. I know." I reply.
"Um, cocky much?" Caleb snaps.
"Um, annoying much?" I snap back.
"Whatever." He says.
"Children. School. Now." Dad says, walking into the kitchen.  I grab my keys off the counter and kiss mom and dad on the cheek goodbye, and walk out the door with Caleb and Elaina behind me.

I jump in my Tesla with Caleb in the passenger side and Elaina in the back.
I, of course, see a Starbucks, and feel the need to stop for a delicious vanilla bean, white chocolate frappuccino, and because I'm a great sister, I got these two heifers something too.  We drank our frapés on the way to school, but since Elaina is still in junior high, her school is on a different campus than mine.  I pulled up to her school and told her that I loved her, while waiting for her to get out of the car. She never did though. "Uhh sis, I think this is the part where you open the door."
"I can't" She says nervously. "I'm too scared."
"Girl don't even start. Ok?  You are beautiful, and smart, and dang sure the most amazing person there is.  If someone doesn't like you, then their for real, for real dumb, and I'm sure you'll make lots of friends"
"Alright. I think I'm ready. Wish me  luck" she said.
"Trust me, E, you don't need it." I reply sincerely. She smiled and said bye to Caleb and I, and got out of the car.
"Nice speech." Caleb told me.
"Thanks bro."

Aside from my long morning routine, Caleb and I have finally made it to school.  Yes, it's a miracle. I know.  I park the car and we get out.  It's 7:50 right now so we have 10 minutes to look around.  Even though I am pretty confident, I can't help but be nervous.  I mean, I moved across the country, how could I not be?  I just have to remember what i said to Elaina and be as if the advice were for me.  We both slowly walked through the school parking lot.  I can tell that Caleb is nervous because he never acts all shy like this.  I walk in on my first day with my head held high, feeling like a whole girl boss.  Though I'm different from these people, I'm not about to let the haters (whoever they may be) bring me down.
