chapter 1

Kelyn's POV

it was hard growing up without a family, without any rolemodel to look up to or rely on. My biological family gave me up as soon as i was born, i guess it was too early for them to have me. I ask myself everyday if someday they'll ever start looking for me and realize their mistake; I was an orphan. Never understood love from anybody i just never got the chance to experience nice things. My life just felt like it was filled with enough  complications up until today. The Nova family was kind enough to adopt me.I was in an emotional state just at the thought of a real family.They had a daughter,  her name was Kathryn she was roughly my age 17 or so i was told by her parents when they came to see me.

"Welcome to the family kelyn" Mrs. Nova gave me a warm smile and a light hug.I stood there like a dumbass not processing her intentions.Kathryn was the only child, her parents have been trying to give her a sibling for some time but it wasn't working which is why i came in the picture I was closer to her age group and they felt like i could make a good impact in her life. I smiled back at Mrs.Nova and her husband. They led me upstairs into a room they specifically designed for me. Kathryn was right down the hall. Mrs.Nova implied for me to get comfortable and to not be afraid to tell her if i need anything. I nodded and watched her and her husband walk back downstairs. I examined the room and admired the clothes they bought for me. I hear footsteps getting louder behind me and quickly turn around to face the door. Kathryn was leaning on the door and smiled, "so you're my sister huh? its kind of weird referring you to that now, im Kathryn " she claimed. "i know.. im glad to finally meet you im kelyn" i lightly said. " My parents are registering you for your new school right now you should start tomorrow, i suggest waking up at 6:00 ill drive us to school at around 6:30" she replied.

I was a bit shocked at her remark it felt like i was being welcomed into everything so fast. I had been to plenty of schools yes from jumping from foster home to foster home. This is my permanent life now it just felt better in some way. "Whats the school called ? is it a good school? " i asked nervously. " Passaic Valley HighSchool, just becareful who you become friends with there.. its a lot of toxic problematic folks that you shouldn't even begin to mess with. I'll tell you a lot more about it once we get there" She hesitated to say a bit. "Here, my parents wanted me to give this to you so we can keep in touch at all times just incase you know ? All of our contacts is already on there." she said as she handed me a phone. My eyes widened , " thank you so much" i replied to her. I've never had this amount of luxury before, well to me atleast it felt like it. They were a noble family quite wealthy.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Finally he came, come with me i want you to meet someone" she said as she grabbed my hand and took me downstairs. She quickly opened the door to reveal a boy with black curly hair and dark brown eyes. "Kathryn who's this ?" he asked. "This is kelyn my sister " she confidently replied. "Oh shit , i forgot you told me about this yeah im Sydney" he snapped. "let's go chit chat upstairs so i can tell you a lil some about Kathryn " he gushed. Kathryn rested her face and just stared at Sydney. 

Kathryn's POV

Kelyn seemed like a good person, my gut is telling me to trust her and guide her, its not everyday you just welcome someone into your family. Sydney caught my parent's attention and went to talk to them for a bit, they asked him how he was doing just a whole lot of chit chat. After Sydney finished talking with my parents we walked upstairs and i guided them into my room and we began all chatting for a while. 

"Has Kathryn told you about your next door neighbor ? " Sydney laughed as he sat on my bed. Kelyn looked up in confusion and started laughing following sydney. "no what is it " she insisted. I glared at Sydney, "there's nothing going on really.." i rolled my eyes at Sydney's comment. "Well his name is Mariano, Kathryn has had a crush on him since like the 5th grade" he blurted. " Since 5th grade? and nothing has ever happened between the two ??" She seemed surprised because we're now seniors. 

They both stared at me like if i was a doll, i felt my face flush in embarrassment, it felt like it was on fire almost. "Sydney shut up " I emphasized. "I mean i had to tell her so she wouldn't just go for him goofy " he teased me. Sydney is my best friend, we've known each other since 7th grade. We've never had any feelings come upfront for each other, he's just kinda always been there; he's a really close friend of mine. Sydney was right tho.. Mar been my biggest crush since we were literally kids. I've watched him get dozens of girlfriends throughout the years and I've never done anything to stop him. He was diligent and humble, Mariano is nothing like my ex Alejandro.

I never really understood him, he was always really weird about the things him and his friends had to do.He was always caught up in something that he called "business i have to take care of". I hated Alejandro..him and his lies. During our breakup Mariano was there to consult me and help me move on. But really i just fell for him all over again. I have to help Kelyn, keep her away from his group. They aren't good people nor boys to be proud of claiming. She deserves real feelings from somebody who really cares for her.
