Chapter 1.1

Lorelei

Pagkatapos kong magbihis ay agad akong lumabas para tingnan kung tapos na ba si Loki sa kanyang ginagawa. I glanced at the wall clock and quickly went to the kitchen to warn Loki that we only have 15 minutes left bago kami sarhan ng gate sa Clark High.

"Loki bilisan mo na't malelelate na ta-"

My words halted nang makita kong wala nang tao sa kusina. I went to his room and knocked pero wala nang sumasagot, and I can't here any shuffling inside either.

I rolled my eyes, akala ko ba tapos na kami sa ganitong scenario na nang-iiwan siya? Well, what can I say? Loki is Loki.

Nagmadali nalang akong nagtungo sa pinto when I noticed Theodore holding something in his hand, or more like pasted in his hand. Checking the clock, I still have enough time para maka abot sa Clark High.

So I approached the suspicious thing na nakadikit sa kamay ni Theodore. It looks like a clear plastic that has a blue ribbon tied on top to seal what's inside, a bomb? No, impossible. A tracker? No, hindi rin. A threat? Eh probably not.

Agad kong nilapitan ang plastic na yun at kinuha ito sa kamay ni Theodore. Habang papalabas na ako sa apartment tiningnan ko kung ano ang nasa loob at laking gulat ko nang makita na cookies lang pala ang laman nito. But wait, hindi dapat makampante, maybe it has been laced with poison.

Akmang itatapon ko na ito when I caught something hiding amongst the cookies. I squinted my eyes and shook the plastic to try and reveal that something and it turned out to be a folded paper.

I hesitantly untied the ribbon and slowly opened the plastic. I immediately picked the letter and opened it.

'I'll wait for you'

Nanlaki ang mata ko sa nabasa. Wait for me? Sino naman kaya ang nagbigay nito? M? No, malabong mangyari yan. Pero paano kung para sana kay Loki to tas kinuha ko? Did I ruin M's plan?

A bunch of questions flooded my mind at hindi ko namalayang nabangga na pala ako sa likuran ng isang lalaki. I was snapped out of my reverie nang tumikhim ang taong yun and dun ko narealize na nakadikit pa pala ako sa likuran niya.

"Nako pasensiya na po kayo!" I exclaimed.

Feeling embarrassed yumuko nalang ako at tumitig sa sapatos ko.

"I never though you could be this polite towards me." A voice spoke.

Eh? Upon knowing who that was, my eyes automatically rolled and I looked up to see Loki staring at me with his famous nonchalant look and a hint of amusement danced in his eyes habang nakapamulsa ito.

"Well kung alam ko lang na ikaw pala yon sana nilakasan ko nalang ang pagbangga."  I said.

"Rude." He said, and I just rolled my eyes again.

Setting his remarks aside agad ko siyang sinuri. As usual nakasuot siya nang school uniform, but something feels different. I immediately assessed his looks and I noticed na instead of his usual disheveled hair, ngayon ay sinuklayan niya na ito and mas nakikita na ngayon ang mata niya. Recalling the episode at the kitchen, hindi ko napigilang magtanong.

"Loki, may importanteng event ba ngayon? Kanina ka pa weird, and idagdag mo pa ang porma mo ngayon."

"Porma? What porma? May I remind you that we are required to wear our school uniform. If this is what you mean by porma then you're the one who's weird." He retorted while avoiding my eyes again.

"I mean, you combed and styled your hair Loki! You look like a decent human now."

I meant what I said. He looked more handsome now pero ayokong sabihin sa kanya ang word na yan dahil lalaki ang ulo niyan.

"Love, I am not just decent. I am handsome and I know that already." He said as if it was nothing to him.

See? Yan na nga ba yung sinasabi ko eh.

"Pero bakit ka pa nandito? I thought you went ahead of me kasi wala kang pasabing umalis sa apartment kanina." I asked.

I admit that I was slightly hurt sa nangyari, kasi akala ko naging malapit na kami ni Loki sa isa't-isa and the fact that he acknowledged me as his friend is enough reason para masaktan ako sa nangyari.

"Did you get what Theodore gave you? I told you I'd wait for you." He said as he tilted his head to the said as if confused.

"Huh?" I questioned.

My mind seemed to have lagged at para bang hindi ma process ng utak ko ang sinabi ni Loki. So siya pala ang nagbigay nung cookies?

'I'll wait for you'

'I told you I'd wait for you'

Bigkang nag echo sa utak ko ang sinabi ni Loki at ang nakalagay sa sulat. Agad akong tumingin sa kanya and found him staring at me intently. I immediately averted my gaze as once again I can feel the pounding of my heart and the feeling of my ears getting hot.

What is this?

I glanced again at Loki and he sighed.

"What are you waiting for? An invitation?"

"Huh?"

He suddenly flicked my forehead while smilling.

"We're late, slowpoke." He said while walking away from me and my heart.

What was that?
