ANDI

Gazing stubbornly at her reflection, Andi tried to will her hair into obeying her. But they both knew it was a lost cause without a real brush. Even a brush might not help, what she really needed here was a shower. So why was she still trying? Because the more time she spent here fussing over her hair and her appearance then the longer she could put off walking out of this bathroom and facing that infuriating man. Conner he had said his name was. Well she didn't care what his name was or what him and Jeremy wanted her to believe it was. Their little joke had gone too far. She was not amused. And to think she had thought him attractive upon first glance. To think she had wasted the time in checking him out!

With a small huff she leaned back from the mirror wiping at her puffy eyes, angry over letting herself cry. Oh she bet that Conner man had already told Jeremy all about it and the two were having a good laugh. It had been a year now. A year exactly as of yesterday and still every time she saw the bastard he seemed to be laughing at her. And she wanted to run away… go home and hide. Cry into her aunt’s shoulder and let brothers come out to beat the crap out of Jeremy like they wanted. But doing that would be letting the jackass win and she couldn’t give him the satisfaction. No he was already smug enough about everything he had done to her… found it amusing like she was nothing more than a toy to play with. But this… this felt low for even him. She shouldn’t be surprised though. No she should have expected something like this…

Tearing her gaze away from the mess of her reflection Andi smoothed out the front of what had once been a rather nice dress. It had fit her perfectly. It had showed off all the right curves in all the right places. But now? Now it was dirty and stained and ripped and the zipper was broken to where it would only go about half way up. She had put a months’ worth of saving’s into that dress… perhaps that was a foolish waste of money but it had made her feel pretty. Beautiful even and she had needed that, especially last night. The first time she wore it out and it gets ruined. Go figure. She would make Jeremy and this Conner guy pay for it. Make them buy her a new one. Or at least she told herself she would but in reality she doubt she would ever be able to pull herself together enough to willingly face Jeremy. She was too broken for that. And Conner… what was to stop him from just laughing in her face like she expected Jeremy would? The sooner she could get out of here altogether the better.

Running her hands over the front of the dress one more time she paused, her hands resting on her thighs a moment before slowly rising as she inspected the ring that sat upon her finger. It was small and simple… not really what she would expect from Jeremy. If there was one thing Jeremy liked it was to flaunt his money. But it had the same stabbing effect on her heart that any ring would give. And the worst part? It was too small so the damn thing was stuck on her finger as a constant reminder of this nightmare she was living. She just wanted it to end… to go home, maybe call up Sam so she could cry on her friends shoulder while running a marathon of Supernatural. And to get the stupid ring off. Right now she just wanted it off most of all. Even if she had to cut her finger off in the process. Because it sure as hell wasn’t coming off right now, she had tried several times already.

Sucking in a deep breath and squaring off her shoulders Andi finally turned from the mirror and to the door, picking up her heels with one hand and kicking the bed sheet she had previously been wearing off to the side as she slowly pulled the door open. But as she peeked out the hall was empty, the open room at the end of it showing no traces of the man. She glanced the other way, to the bedroom. The door was closed. Fine by her. If she could slip out of here without having to face him again that would be just swell. All she needed now were her keys and phone, both of which had been in the small clutch purse she had. That was bound to be around here somewhere. Maybe by the door where her shoes had been? She didn’t remember seeing them but honestly she hadn’t looked very hard past finding her dress. She didn’t expect the purse made it that far into the house however.
