" I'm not sure that I'll be able to go in there, Vinnie"
Ellie 's leg moved up and down with a life of its own, even after her brother laid a reassuring hand on top of it. Even though her brother's relationship with their father was lacking, she had seen for herself just how much his death had affected him. He tried to hide it, but she knew.
On the distance, she was able to see the entrance, so close yet so far away. As the car neared the barricade put on by the police, Ellie's breath hitched on her throat, a painful sensation that reminded her that she was in fact alive, and not numb as her head made her believe.
Stephen grabbed his phone from the glove compartment, startling his sister in the process. He didn't want to admit it, but he feared for her, his little sister. She'd always been tougher than him, often protecting him at school, never one afraid to throw punches when it was needed. But now, a pale frame with bloodshot eyes and a runny nose seemed to have taken her place. Yes, he was hurt, but he had to admit that the relationship he had with his father was nowhere near as strong as the one his sister had. Hell, when he was younger he'd become sour towards them because of it, he blamed his dad but the jealousy towards his sister remained. It was in his early twenties when he realized that it wasn't their fault, things just were like that, Ellie was closer to her dad, while he was more of a "momma's boy". After Gideon left the BAU, he did become closer to him, but he always knew that their bond would never run as deep as his sister's. Except by then, he was unbothered.
Dragging himself back to reality, Stephen stopped staring at his sister and finally ringed Aaron Hotchner
"Hotchner"
"We just got to the barricade, 'm not sure about what I should do-
"Yeah, just tell them you're with us, they'll let you through"
"Okay, see you in a couple of minutes"
"Okay"
After that, the silence was deafening. Only after the cabin came into view, did Ellie voice out her doubts
"I was being serious Stephen, I really don't think that I'll be able to go in there"
The girl turned her gaze from the cabin to her brother, waiting for an answer that only came until after the car was parked.
"It's going to be fine, you don't have to worry, okay flower-pad?"
A small smile grew on her face, the first one since she'd received the news, and Stephen couldn't have been happier.
As a car neared, and two faces could be seen, David Rossi found himself at loss of words. A sense of familiarity overcame him, but still he wasn't sure. Subconsciously he had to know, there was no other way, but he was somehow blocked.
"who are they?"
His mind was trying to lock that smile he saw on the woman, and the eyes that the man had were so familiar, but yet it wasn't enough.
