"On behalf of Southwest Airlines, I would like to welcome you to Los Angeles, California. Please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened and make sure the trays in front of you are in the upright position. Please leave your carry on items where they are until we arrive at the gate and the captain turns off the fasten seatbelt sign. If you are connecting to another Southwest flight, please check the TV monitors in the terminal for flight times and gate numbers. It's been a pleasure serving you all today. We know that you have many choices upon flying and I thank you for choosing Southwest." I opened my eyes and let go of emani's hand.
She was knocked out from the long flight and I didn't blame her.
I opened my window and we were arriving at LAX airport.
God I haven't seen this place in years and lord knows I missed it. If I could take it all back and redo everything I would have never left.
I missed my family, I can't wait to see them. Neither can mani, that's all she's been talking about.
"Mani, get up baby." I shook her lightly to wake her up.
She lift her head off my shoulder and looked around excitedly.
"We at home?" She asked trying to stand up and leave.
"Yes, almost. but you have to wait until we land first girl." I chuckled.
The flight attendant followed up the departing announcement with a brief melody as several passengers, along with my daughter, clapped along to the live entertainment.
The lady in front of us disobeyed the ladies order's for us to remain seated and was removing her bags from the overhead compartment.
I glanced up at her for a fraction of a second and then back at my daughter who had her mouth slightly opened.
Before I could reach her ear point to warn her about her mouth, she was already gone with her words.
"Eww... mommy... mama" she hollered holding her mouth using her other finger to point at that lady face.
"Look at her face.. eww.. look at all those bumps on her fa—
I grabbed her by her arm with one hand and used my other hand to cover her mouth.
Most of the passengers who saw started laughing at her outburst but to me, it wasn't funny.Clearly the woman had a skin disorder.
They say kids are honest by nature but emani? Boy oh boy, she takes it too far with the things she say. She get that from me, I'll admit but damn.
Everything else is her father. Even her stubbornness.
"Sorry" I apologized to the lady.
"What did I tell you about your mouth?" I grumbled in her ear through clenched teeth.
She started squirming in her seat so I tightened my hold on her arm and looked her dead in the eyes.
I slowly removed my hand from her mouth giving her a menacing stare. It would quiet her until we got off the plane.
"Mommy?" She called.
"Yes emani." I answered.
"I have to use the bathroom." She said pulling at my hand.
I looked around in the airport.
"Alright come on, there's one right over here." I picked her up and walked her to the bathroom.
I went in the stall with her to hold her up so she wouldn't sit on the toilet.
Once she finished she did the rest.
