I was nervous. I looked through the door and saw him. His eyes were lit up and his smile wide, he turned towards his band locker. Okay come on Blair, you can do this, just go up to him. I walk up to him and stand behind him. Come on say something don’t stand there like an idiot! Just say hi Aaron. Wait, no Adam? That’s not it, shoot. I tap his shoulder and he turns and smiles.
“Hi” he says. I’m freaking out. Searching for words to say, oh god look at those eyes! Oh shit you look really stupid uhh.
“Hi” I say back. Okay so I already succeeded at looking like an idiot good job. “uh” don’t uh you idiot! “your concert was awesome.” Close call there.
“thanks, I’m really glad you came.” He puts his clarinet case in his locker and looks down on me. He’s probably on like 2 or three inches taller, and slim. He puts his arms around me and hugs me.
Something is different about his hug. It’s warm, comforting, and even though I just met him I felt safe there in his arms.
We only got to talk for like ten minutes. I managed to make myself look stupid multiple times. But he still hugged me goodbye. He still texted me the rest of the night, like we had every other night before we met. But tonight was the first night I met Alec Connors, and my life undoubtedly would never be the same.
