The Queen.
I stand at the window and close my eyes. I think of a child. A girl. What will I want her to look like. What will our Princess would look like. I inhale...and exhale.
''Lips as red as apple, Skin as white as milk, and... Hair as black as charcoal''
My eyes burst open when an arm encircled my waist.
''Is that your wish, my dear Queen?''
''The Experts said it was really a girl, so I wished her to be like that'' I turn to face him. Fear, nervousness building in my chest right now. But mostly...happiness. We're having our first child. ''What do you think?''
''I imagine her holding our hands, black hair like yours, white skin like ours, red lips... redder than yours, brown eyes like mine'' he smiles then kissed me on the forehead.
''Don't you like...blue eyes like mine?'' he shook his head. I know he's teasing me. He gave me that look and smile, and I gave him my sweetest smile when he kissed my hand.
''I wish the fairies heard your wishes, we will invite them on her birthday. If we saw them.'' The fairies are very popular in our land. People say fairies grant wishes when it's from the bottom of your heart. But some says they hid in the Mountain of Fae, so it is impossible for them to hear a single wish. Others don't believe them, because no one ever saw one.
''I like the sound of it'' I turn around again facing the window, we watched as the snow falls to the ground.
He's the one who wants a baby girl. I do also like a girl, but I prefer a boy first, so there will be a body guard of our second child, if ever I can still bear another child. I'm glad the Experts said that my child was healthy though they also said it will be difficult for me to bear a child, and I can feel I'm getting weaker everyday. Maybe its because of a child I carry inside of my body. Maybe my body don't respond well on having a child.
''What are you thinking, my dear?'' he asked. I forgot that he's still there holding my waist.
''Nothing dear'' I lied. ''What will we name her?'' changing the topic, so he won't pursue on what really was I thinking. I don't want him to see me worry. And I never told him what I'm feeling, there's so much problem in the palace. I don't want to be one of those.
''Actually... I made a long list of names'' he laughed. His laugh was the best sound I ever heard, when he laugh all my worries just fly right away. ''I also wrote names of boys. Just in case''
''So...have you chose a name from your long list?'' I tease.
''Not yet... But since it was only the beginning of winter, she can still see the snow, right?'' he hugged me tightly, and I thought my lips curved upward. I feel his lips at my right ear. ''Snow... Snow White'' he whispers.
My eyes gleamed with joy ''That's a very lovely name!'' I spun around and hugged him. I never think of that.
''I'm glad you liked it''
''Your Highness'' a guard appeared, breaking our lovely moment. We looked at him. He seems... Nervous? ''I'm sorry for interrupting'' he's panting.
''Go on. What is it?'' the King asked him and raised his left eyebrow.
''The Witch was caught'' I place a hand on my mouth to hide the horror in my face. The Witch was caught, maybe this time, she will lift the curse of the deadly disease spreading on the villagers. And I hope, the weaknesses I'm feeling was not because of that disease.
We all hurriedly go out of the room. We walked in the hall, he was holding my hand, squeezing it tightly but letting the blood run through. ''Are you sure you want to come with us?'' we stopped.
