I had a perfect life. A loyal, loving mate. A strong, protective clan. A life supporting brother as a leader. And I was also carrying kits that were well overdue. I expected, from my experience of watching, that the kits would hope to be the best warriors in Shadowclan. Kits' top priority in life is usually to be the best warrior anyone has ever seen. Maybe one of my kits will be Shadowclan's soon-to-be leader. My brother, Wolfstar, fulfilled his life long dream of being leader. I expect the same from one of my kits.
While daydreaming of my kits' wonderful future, a voice spoke, "Whitepelt, how are you feeling?" it was Blackpetal. Our clan's medicine cat. I've never seen a more beautiful, sleek jet-black cat in all of my life. Maybe one of my kits will look at gorgeous as her. "Whitepelt, you are, under my permission, able to go to the gathering," she calmly spoke to me.
"Thank you Blackpetal, I appreciate your help."
She walked away with such a graceful step.
The day dragged along by. I heaved everywhere I went, the weight of my kits pulling me down making me feel like one of those fat kittypets described in one of the elder's stories.
At last the night appeared and we were on our way to the island in the middle of the lake. When Iceclan was still Riverclan, and when the clans first journeyed here to the lake, Riverclan attempted to take the island for themselves. They're Iceclan now and no one but themselves know why in Starclan they changed their clan name.
My mate, Moonwhisper, sat alongside me. We paid well attention to this moon's meeting. There were suspicious activities going on with the two legs and I don't want those lousy creatures getting in the way of my kits' bright futures.
Frozenstar stepped forth. "Iceclan patrols have discovered new two leg belongings. The clan is currently deciding whether or not these two legs items are dangerous and if the two legs left them here in an attempt to harm us. Besides that, Iceclan is doing well and Greenleaf was fair to bring such a surplus of prey," Frozenstar stepped back.
Wolfstar stepped forth. It made me so proud that my only brother became Shadowclan's leader. He exclaimed, "Shadowclan has never had an encounter with two legs or their objects, but we will be extra vigilante. Prey runs well and we have two new kits in the clan of Badgerfur's. We welcome these miracles of life from Starclan and they will become fine warriors."
I wonder if Wolfstar will be proud to announce my kits' arrival. I didn't really feel like listening to the rest of the messages of the gathering. I started feeling dizzy and had a sharp pain in my stomach. Of course, I didn't let it show especially to the other clans. I just crouched down as if I had gotten bored and tired.
When I awoke, after a few moments, I screeched with pain as I knew the kits were coming. There were no medicine cats around, coincidentally, so everybody was confused. My brothers were there to support me, but had not the slightest idea of what they were supposed to do. During my dilemma, Iceclan and Windclan got into a little feud about who should get their medicine cat. Windclan thought they should go because they were the quickest cats. Iceclan thought they should go because their camp was closer. I was in a lot of pain, so I thought I'd just solve this problem by meowing a deafening meow so they would move along. It worked. One cat from each clan dashed towards their camp.
Wolfstar had the nerve to ask me, " Are you alright, Whitepelt?"
"Ha! Sure! Never felt better." I responded with pure sarcasm.
He didn't seem to catch my tone as his reply was, "Good. The medicine cats will be back soon."
I didn't bother to argue with his stupidity. My kits were more important, at the moment, than my brother's unawareness.
Seconds later, both the Windclan and Iceclan medicine cats rushed into the clearing. Stormpetal, from Iceclan, and Harebounce, from Windclan.
Stormpetal told Harebounce to fetch some herbs for me. And instructed me to be still, breathe, and push. I pray to Starclan my kits will be alright.
