Hey there beautiful readers,

I’ve decided to give a new book a crack. I was listening to a song when I began to type and was enthused by the ideas that came up. So to be 100% honest, I’m not exactly sure where this story is going, but I will let you know when I think I have figured it out.

I really hope you all enjoy it.

Liam's POV

I scrunched my eyes before blinking a few times. I could hear the kettle boiling and the smell of bacon filled my nose, making my mouth water. I licked my dry lips as I pushed myself up into a sitting position. I scanned the room seeing Louis and Harry fast asleep on the floor all wrapped up in a huge blanket and Zayn sprawled out across one of the recliners, dead to the world. The TV lit the dark room, silently playing ‘Toy Story 2’. The sizzling of bacon suddenly caught my attention again with light hums coming from the boy who was occupying the kitchen. I ran my hands over the couch searching for my phone, pushing my fingers down into the cracks until I came across the hard squared shape of my phone. I pressed the home button of my Iphone watching as my screen lit up. I felt a frown creeping into my brows, why was Niall cooking at three in the morning. I pushed the blankets off of me and tip toed over Harry and Lou as I walked towards the kitchen.

As I rounded the corner I surely enough saw Niall standing over the stove watching it intently. I suppressed a giggle, trying to keep a wall of seriousness plastered on my face. I stood there for a minute with my hands on my hips as I watched the blond haired boy inch closer and closer to the pan. Have we not taught you anything I thought right as the bacon crackled and the pan spat out droplets of fat, hitting Niall in the face. Niall made a squeak as he automatically jerked his head away from the pan hitting his head against the range-hood sitting just above him. Niall quickly retracted his hand up to rub his head before placing his hands to his hips “why do you do that?” Niall questioned angrily at the popping bacon in a hushed voice.  I pinched the bridge of my nose before slowly shaking my head.

“Niall” I said as quietly as I could, not wanting to wake the others. Startled, Niall spun around aiming a pair of tongs at me but quickly dropped them and replaced his shocked face with a goofy tired smile.

“What are you doing Niall? It’s three in the morning.” I asked him curiously. The boy tilted his head to the side, his blond hair falling with him. “I couldn’t sleep Li” Niall said letting out a long sigh before turning back to the sizzling bacon. “Shit” Niall said under his breath “what, what is it?” I asked him stepping closer “My bacon” Niall said, exhaustion seeping into his voice. I walked over to the stove to see a little piece of dried brown bacon crackling away in the pan. Niall huffed and walked over to the balcony, stepping outside and shutting the door behind him.

I turned the stove off, threw the bacon in the bin and put the pan in the sink; I would clean it up in the morning.

I walked over and peered out the window at Niall who was facing the city lights, resting his elbows on the rails. I opened the door and stepped outside, walking over to stand next to Niall. Niall looked up at me, his eyes sparkling for a second but quickly disappearing “Ni, what’s wrong?” I asked feeling saddened when his face dropped “I was hoping you would have cooked me some bacon” he said sadly looking back out to the city. I held in another giggle “Oh Ni Ni, you know it’s not good to eat before you go to sleep” I said with a little too much cheer in my voice. Niall groaned and slumped further over the rails “but I’m hungry Liam” he whined. This time I let the giggle leave my lips, it sounded almost harmonious as it caught in the cool breeze.

I moved closer to Niall so that our sides were pressed together and I wrapped an arm around his shoulders “Rio really is a beautiful sight at night” I spoke softly, not really to Niall but to the air that wrapped around us like an invisible blanket. Niall let out a small sigh before giving in and resting his head on my shoulder “your right, Rio is beautiful, I wish we didn’t have to go back home tomorrow”.

I let my eyes wander sleepily over the orange glow that the city gave out, making the surrounding ocean have a beautiful gold tinge to it. The sound of bugs singing filled the air as the soft breeze carried their melodies out to sea. “I think I’m ready for bed now LiLi” Niall said as his body began to feel more heavy against mine.

I walked Niall back inside and we made our way back to the lounge room where the other boys were still sound asleep, oblivious to their surroundings. I sat back down on the couch I had occupied for the night and began to pull the covers back over me when a small whimper left Niall’s lips, he began to pull the covers away from my hands as he climbed onto the couch next to me “LiLi, I’m going to sleep here tonight if that okay with you” he said in a small whisper “you make me feel safe” were the last words that left his lips before he snuggled his head into my chest. I pressed my lips to his forehead gently “sleep tight Ni”.

I let myself fall into my thoughts as I waited for Niall to fall asleep, he was always quicker to fall asleep if he knew someone else was still awake, so I didn’t mind waiting up until he drifted off; it wouldn’t take him long.

It had been a long few months, travelling from city to city, having dozens of interviews and performing even more shows. Don’t get me wrong, we loved it more than words could ever explain but I could see our busy schedule affecting each of us. Sleepless nights due to countless parties, screaming fans at every corner we turned, vocal strains and an overload of emotions. I think that’s what we struggled with the most, controlling our emotions. It was hard not seeing our families for weeks at a time, even months sometimes, but I guess that’s where we are lucky to have each other.

The soft breathes of Niall’s snores began to drift through the air, mixing with the other noises that filled our surroundings. The tickling sensation as Niall’s chest rose and fell with each breathe played against my neck. I propped myself up to glance at the sleeping boy who laid in my embrace, his soft hair messy against my arm, the moon peering through the curtains bounced off his pale skin, light circles of purples shaded the bottom of Niall’s eyes. I sighed; Niall was exhausted, just as exhausted as the rest of us. We were due for a break soon; we wouldn’t be able to keep this up.

I snuggled into Niall, holding him tighter in my embrace as I watched as ‘Toy Story’ continued to play silently on the flat screen TV until sleep finally came for me.
