(In celebration of EXO's 8th anniversary, I'll be releasing standalone one shots for each of the members! Please look forward to it!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Let's all work our hardest, yes? Welcome to our humble family, Kyungsoo~!"
My dad giggled drunkenly as he pushed up his wineglass, the blood red liquid within splashing wildly. Chatter and clapping followed suit, the rest of my family also raising their libation of choice.
I don't get it. I sigh, flicking my gaze towards the celebrated man, who sat a little ways away. With outstanding posture, a crisp and prim outfit, and stoic expression, Kyungsoo was really selling the fact that he was a tutor...for me.
I mean, I know I didn't do so great on the last test, but does that really warrant getting a tutor?
I flinched as said person suddenly swept his gaze towards me; his expression was scarily flat.
"Uh..."
...P-plus, what kind of tutor lives with you?! Dad can make as many excuses about him being a "financially-troubled college student", but it really just doesn't make sense! It's weird!
"Please excuse me—I need to use the restroom." Kyungsoo suddenly uttered, flashing the smallest smile ever at my parents before stiffly walking off. Some of my aunts stared after him, eerie interest flashing in their eyes.
"What a handsome lad! If only I was younger..."
"A bit stiff though, hm? He needs to relax."
"Oh, shush! He's just taking his job seriously! I happen to think it's cute!"
Dad... I seethed, shooting a glare at said person, who remained tipsily oblivious, ...why the heck did you invite our whole family to what's pretty much the celebration of my failure?!
...Urgh, all of this crazy stuff is making me sick. I think I need the bathroom....
"Um, I need to use the bathroom." I stood up and spoke...only to be completely ignored.
Really?! I'm a member of this family!
Taking a deep breath, I stepped away from the crowded table of ignorant people.
"You're leaving, Anne?"
I paused when my older sister, Carrie—who I'm often told I look like—called out to me. She had on that kind sisterly smile of hers, her maple brown hair done up in a pretty loose bun.
"Yeah. All this noise is making my head hurt." I replied somewhat sheepishly. Unlike me, Carrie was a golden student—it's no wonder why she already got engaged.
And to her high school sweetheart, too! Lucky!
"Ah, I see." she nodded sympathetically. I like to believe that she understood my pain. "Well, you'd best tend to that, yes? Headaches are godawful!"
