Alice speed walks to her next class, trying to keep up with Teresa, her best friend. She just doesn't get why and how Teresa can walk that fast. But Alice's grateful, because she hasn't been late due to that.
Ever since her parents disowned her for being lesbian, Alice has been living at Teresa's. They just have to go through senior year, and then there's college. She has been saving up for it, since there won't be many people who'll want to pay that much money. Especially her family.
When she arrives at the classroom, Alice spots Ethan sitting there, bored as always. He sees Alice and starts waving at her. She waves back and dumps her stuff right next the seat next to him. "Eyoo", he says. "Waddup!" Alice answers while taking her books out of her bag.
Ethan starts to complain how tired he is, Alice joins in.
Their sleeping schedule isn't the most stable, due to missing assignments, unwritten essays, unfinished textbooks, Netflix, YouTube and anime.
Doing the work, reading the textbooks, studying and grading tests, it's all stressful, for the students and for the teachers.
Alice sinks in deep thoughts and starts mumbling random stuff. Suddenly she hears a loud BANG coming from the hallway.
People start yelling, screaming, running. Too many people running. Either running from the sound or to the sound.
Alice and Ethan push their way through the crowd and find: a hole. There doesn't seem to be an end to it.
People are bending over to see if they can see the bottom, a girl almost fell because she was bending over too far. Her friend grabbed her arm, but her phone fell.
We didn't hear it land yet. We've been waiting there for minutes.
Then there are coming sirens in the background. Everyone is still confused, just going with the flow and not paying attention to anything.
People are being shoved aside, away from the hole. Policemen are putting a big yellow barrier around it, so that no one can pass and accidentally fall in, like the girl almost did.
Alice sits down at the stairs; Ethan sits next to her.
"We should probably go home, I don't think school will continue," Alice says. "I'll go grab my stuff from the class, you coming?" She gets up and starts walking to the door, Ethan catching up to her.
As soon as they both packed their bags, they walk down the street, to Teresa's and Ethan's houses.
When they've arrived, Ethan starts walking to the doorway of his house, conveniently standing next to Teresa's.
