Love In the Time of COVID

Early morning,
I leave the house quietly
So as not to disturb my husband.
Who gets up and heads to the bathroom mumbling,
"Quit stomping!" through his hangover.

I drive past the lonely beach,
On the lonely road,
And gasp!

I pull over next to the rocks and stare,
As a smile slowly blooms across my
face.
A rainbow bursts from the clouds
into the waves,
Just long enough for me to snap a photo on my phone.

I pull away, and drive to my healthcare-worker-essential-job
As the sun is breaking through the clouds,
It is going to be a good day!

F**** you, COVID-19.
