Once upon a time there was a winged beast.

More precisely, a dragon. This dragon hoarded. Not humans or gold or even glass, but he hoarded talents. Talents as in sewing or dancing or singing. People think this dragon took people to impress him and he'd let them live but serve him for eternity but that's not it. No, this dragon met a human.

Not just an ordinary human but a princess.

The princess of a nearby kingdom actually. And this princess was fearful for her people more so than her own safety. So, to protect her people, who were afraid the dragon would take the ones with talent, she offered a deal with this dragon. The deal was she would stay with the dragon for 100 days but then, for 40 days, she'd go back to her kingdom to be with her people and rule them like she was supposed to. But the dragon was skeptical, what did this human have to offer him? The princess said that it was a surprise. He didn't want to take the deal till he saw her talent but, for some reason, he was compelled to take the deal still. So, he accepted.

Over the span of fifty days, the dragon and the princess got to know more about each other. The princess found that the dragon is actually a kind, gentle dragon and the dragon found that the princess was a witty, clumsy person, not always perfect, but she had the kindest soul. The dragon still couldn't understand though, why this princess would go to such lengths for the people that were so fearful. But she replied saying it was her role as the ruler. And the subject was dropped.

Soon, they were on the 100th day and it was a rather sad day. The princess and dragon became attached to each other to where they were the best of friends, even if they both weren't human. But, the dragon, being as kind as he was, said she didn't need to stay any longer and she served her purpose. For he had figured out her talent. The talent of taking away loneliness. One of the strongest gifts of all time. And he was grateful to witness it. But, the princess, being surprisingly stubborn said fine, if you don't want me to come back I won't but you can't stop me from moving my kingdom here! And with that, she was gone, off to transition her kingdom close to the dragon's cave. The dragon was shocked! No one has ever back talked him! That's when he decided, he shall protect her for as long as she needs. And so, the dragon helped with the move of the kingdom.

Once everything was moved, the princess, or more specifically queen because her parents retired, renamed the kingdom after the dragon, the summer kingdom, or Natsu, which means summer. Now they promised to stay together for all eternity and rule as one. It took the kingdom a while to get used to a dragon being a co ruler but they did get used to it.

One day, the princess wanted to go on a search for something and the dragon asked what. But the princess was being mischievous and said she wasn't gonna tell him till she found it. But the dragon was stubborn like her and said he was coming along if she wouldn't tell him. So, she chose not to fight him and allowed him to come. She hopped on his back, with his permission that is, and off they flew, in search of this secret thing. As they flew, the princess looked around for where they needed to go. When she finally saw the dragon tooth peak, she shouted for the dragon to land there. When landed, the princess hopped off and started running, with the dragon shouting from behind. As the cottage came into view, the princess ran harder to reach it faster. Once there, she stopped to take a well needed breather. Once able to breathe again, she walked up to the door and knocked. The one who opened the door was a short, hunched over woman who is rather old. There was a chime behind the woman coming from a bell ringing itself saying the tea was done. The reason the bell was ringing on its own, was because of magic. For the woman was actually a witch.

And so, the princess begged the witch for a potion, a specific potion to turn an animal to a human. The reason being is because the princess wanted to change her dragon friend human, not because she suddenly became against dragons, she still loved him with all her heart but to help him not stick out more but also for her own heart to grow because she was in love with him and planned to tell him. The witch finally agreed after the princess told her the story and reason why she needed the portion. The princess paid her and was on her way.

Once finally back to the dragon, he asked what she needed and she said she needed something to help her courage which confused him to no end.

"Why would you need help with something like that? You are full of courage and kindness so there was no need for that" but she countered saying she needed it for something she's waited a long time to do.

And with that, she said what she's always wanted to say, "Natsu, I'm in love with you. I have been since the 100 days we spent together and I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side, not as best friend but as husband."

He replied saying it was impossible and there was no way he can be with her, even if he loves her as much as her, maybe more. So, she said what if I can turn you human, what would you do? And he said he would do anything for her so he would become human if possible.

"That's what this journey was for. I found a witch with the power to change you human and here is the potion."

She pulled it out and showed it to him. He was speechless. But of course, he accepted it.

He said, "I will take it when we are home safe."

Which of course, she agreed to. Once home, the dragon drank the potion and changed into a tall human with tan skin and pink hair. he had on a navy blue, almost black vest with gold trim, white shorts with a waste coat of the same color as the vest, and brown sandals. Surprised by his human body, he stared at his hands then looked up to the princess who was pink in the face. But nothing could spoil this because she was so overjoyed she jumped into his arms and he replied on reflexes he didn't know about. Once finally together, they were able to share their first kiss, which was a sweet kiss. And then their second, much more passionate than the first. Once concluded, which technically wasn't concluded, they went off to the princess's chamber for some time to... talk. They later married in the summer, the time they met and the meaning of his name. That was the day the princess's name was changed from Heartfilia to Dragneel. And they lived happily ever after.
