His phone buzzed with a text, and he went to check who it was. Bennet.

Sup

what do u want

whats wrong?

He couldn't tell him that he was jealous of his girlfriend...Wait, jealous? No, he was happy for him, or atleast he should be. But why was there this odd feeling in the pit of his stomach whenever the thought of the two together came up?

nothin, nvm.

He bit his lip.

can u hang today?

He wasn't sure what got him to ask that. It was normal for friends to hang out, but when he asked it, it seemed different.

yah, why?

He told himself his heart fluttering was simply excitment to acually do something besides lay around.

Park, 10 min?

sure

Jake didn't even try to come up with an excuse for why he jumped up and ran to his closet. He was already dressed in his usual basketball shorts and tshirt, but it was winter- he should put on some jeans atleast. Plus, he didn't really feel like being so... exposed around Bennet right now. He grapped a pair of jeans and quickly pulled the on, buttoning them while he walked to get his shoes. Jordans or Vans? Vans, he just wouldn't get them dirty. He grabbed a jacket and his phone, shoving it into it's pocket after he put it on. He ran down the stairs, said a quick bye to his parents and a quick slur of when he'd be back, then flew out the door.

Why was he so excited? He slowed his pace down to a walk and took a large breath. Act cool. Calm.

You're just hanging out with your friend at the park.

Gosh, I wish he was more than just a friend.

His eyes went wide. No, what? He wasn't GAY. It's not like during wrestling practice he got boners! It's not like he looked around in the locker room, or urinals, or looked at guys that way at all!

Except Bennett

No. No.

He couldn't be gay, he...

1. Liked girls
2. Liked tits
3. Didn't like boys
4. He was normal
5. He wasn't gay. He couldn't be gay.

At each notion an image of Bennett flashed up- all the way from his goofy smile to him shirtless. What was the boy doing to him?

He's at the park now, and it only takes a couple seconds of looking around to spot Bennett, leaning against the fence and on his phone. He looks up- as soon as he sees Jake, he smiles.

Jake can't breathe.

I'm not gay.

He walks over, trying to shake the stiffness from his limbs. He had frozen up... Must be the weather.

"Hey dude." Bennett says, standing up from the slouch against the fence, bringing him to his whole height and even more taller than Jake.

Jake looked at Bennett.

He was beautiful to him. He was tall. He was athletic. He was.... He was someone who could do way better than Jake. And is. That girl... She was perfect for him. They, were perfect.

"Jake... Jake?" Bennett leans down, concerned at the tears in his friends eyes.

Jake stiffens up. His feet eyes go wide- he was being such a pussy, being so weak, and all in front of Bennett. All in front of the person he couldn't stop thinking about.

He wipes his tears away harshly, as if proving to them, as if proving to himself and to the world that they don't exist. Didn't exist.

But they come back.

He's trying not to, he really is. But his breath is in shallow breaths that are practically pants now and he most look even more disgusting then he usually does with a snotty nose and red stained eyes and being such a baby-

Bennett wraps his arms around him.

Jake, shocked, doesn't know how to react at first. Then he grips back, holding onto the taller boy for dear life.

Realizing, this was just what he needed.
