THIRD PERSON
"I want to help you Minkyung." Gaeun says before she continues, "I'll help you get closer to Chan."
"For what reason are you helping me exactly?" Minkyung asks as she is a bit taken back hearing the other girl's statement.
"I am just fulfilling my promise." With that, Gaeun leaves Minkyung who is still unable to understand what she said on the rooftop.
GAEUN
"I am just fulfilling my promise." I leave her dumbfounded.
A promise that I made years ago.
/flashback/
THIRD PERSON
5 years old Gaeun and Chanhyuk were walking home from their preschool as usual. The two were chatting joyfully and they were about to cross the road. Gaeun's shoelaces were untied, therefore she stopped to get them done. Chanhyuk walked across the road first but then he came to a halt when he heard Gaeun calling him from a distance "Chan~ wait for me!!"
As little boy Chanhyuk was turning his head to face her, a big truck is headed towards him.

Then, it happened. The accident. Little Gaeun dropped on her knees, shocked, tears unknowingly streamed down her face.
Chanhyuk laid unconscious on the road, blood seeped out from his head, a few scratches can be seen. The lorry driver stepped out of the lorry to check on the poor boy. He called for the ambulance and soon after, the awaited ambulance arrived. The situation caused a commotion, there was a huge crowd circling the place. Some of them tried to comfort Gaeun and called for her parents.
Her parents brought her home and she had been locking herself up in the room for a few hours, crying. She thought it is her fault that the incident happened. She didn't know what happens to the boy in the hospital but she did overhear her parents talking. They were on call with Chanhyuk's parents. Apparently, Chanhyuk lost a lot of blood and he is still in the surgery room.
The only thing she knew was that she didn't want to lose her one and only best friend. She slid the window panels open, her gaze on the starry sky.
She closed her eyes and prayed to God while sobbing, "God p-please, save Channie. I p-promise if you save him, I'll take the responsibility of k-keeping him happy for the rest of his life. N-no matter what it takes. I will always be there for h-him. So please God, save him."
A while later, she fell asleep on her bed while crying.
The next day, the little girl woke up with red eyes and finally went out of her room. As soon as she arrived in the kitchen, her parents pulled her into a hug.
"Don't worry sweetheart. Chan will be alright. He is a tough little boy after all. His mother just called and said his condition is stable now."
From that moment onwards, Gaeun knew she has to fulfil her promise. Her promise to make him happy.
A year had passed since the accident and both Gaeun and Chanhyuk never mentioned about it ever again. Not even mentioning it to their newfound best friend, Chihoon who just moved in when they are 6 years old.

Sksksk this is just like a short flashback chapter for what happened in the past between Chan and Gaeun. Yeah, if any of you are confused, Chihoon moved to their neighbourhood a year after the incident. Chihoon knows nothing of it.
Btw, I got the idea of the promise thingy from a Chinese friendship-romcom drama entitled The Big Boss. I changed the idea a bit but here is the original clip from the drama.
