"It's deep in the fourth quarter, first game of the season, and South Crenshaw and Slauson are tied." The stadium announcer spoke as Lyric sat on one of the bleachers, watching as her best friend, Spencer James played in their first game of the season. She furrowed her eyebrows once she noticed Spencer tapping his helmet signaling to Lyric's boyfriend, Chris Jackson, that they should change the play at the line of scrimmage.

Chris groaned but obeyed, knowing that if Spencer didn't pull through Coach would get on his ass for going against his orders, "Check razor, Check razor," He yelled changing his position."C'mon Spence," Lyric whispered to herself once the ball left Chris' hand and was thrown into Spencers'.

"Yes!" The crowd and Lyric rejoiced as the oldest James' boy made it to the end zone, scoring the winning point. "Touchdown! Chargers win!"

Their cheers and excitement were soon replaced by fear once they heard the loud sounds of gunshots ringing through the field, making everyone duck, trying to not get shot.

Almost an hour after the whole fiasco, Lyric found herself standing outside the boys' locker room, waiting on the arrival of her boyfriend after the game. "Hey baby," Chris Jackson smiled, pecking the lips of his long-term girlfriend before hugging her, " You did amazing tonight," Lyric complimented as she released from the hug.

"Only because you were in the stands, you know I need my lucky charm in order to win," Chris cornily joked, making Lyric laugh. "Shut up," She said, playfully shoving his shoulder. He grinned before looking down at his phone which began to light up. "My moms been blowing me up since she heard about the shooting," Chris said sending her a quick text.

"I should probably get home," He told her, making her sigh. "Yeah, you should. Be safe." Lyric softly smiled, as he kissed her forehead, "You too, I love you." Chris cooed, before jogging off. "I love you too," Lyric called at him. "I love you too," Spencer mocked, creeping up behind, startling the sixteen-year-old.

"Bruh, what the fuck," Lyric voiced, punching her best friend in the arm for sneaking up on her. "Ow, damn, I'm sorry," He laughed, holding onto his arm as the two started their walk home. "And to think I was gonna tell you how good you did tonight," Lyric scoffed, shaking her head.

"You kinda just did," Spencer replied, with a knowing smirk on his face. Lyric's face immediately dropped, "I hate you," She said before shoving him. "You gon stop abusing me."

"Spencer James?" A voice called, making the two teens turn around to see who it was "My bad. Didn't mean to, uh, startle you." The mystery man apologized as he came closer to the duo. Lyric and Spencer looked at each other, and then back at the man, not uttering a word.
