get to know sumi

predebut facts:

-sumi was born and raised in san francisco, ca.
-she was born to a korean mother and a japanese father, with her younger twin sister, hyeji
-her native language is english, which is the language she usually counts in, in her head. she is also fluent in korean amd japanese, which are her parent's native languages. she is currently trying to learn how to speak mandarin.
-unfortunately, her father died when she was only 4 years old, due to a car crash where a drunk driver had severely hit him. she doesn't really remember him, which is what makes her mostly sad
-before her dad died, he had applied her to a dance class, when he noticed how happy she looked while dancing. it's like dancing is the one thing she can remember that her dad was a part of in her life.
-when sumi got scouted at the festival, her
whole family was supportive of her decision and dreams. so, she packed up all her stuff and moved in with her grandparents in korea.
-sumi also lost her mother in 2007 to a heart disease, her mom had an unexpected heart attack that cut her life short.
-her mom passed when she was only 15 and it had happened a few months after her debut, causing sumi to go on a hiatus during this time. it was really tough for her to decide to come back to korea and rejoin her group, because she felt like she was abandoning her siblings. however, they had convinced her to go back, while they were taken under the care of her grandparents on their dad's side.
-growing up, her siblings and her were really close and they were her motivation in life. they're like the three musketeers and are still close today.
-her older brother, jaemin, is an mma fighter in los angeles, where he lives with his wife and daughter. although they barely see each other, they're still very close and his daughter adores sumi.
-her twin sister, hyeji, is a model and often travels the world for her job. they both see each other often and tend to go on travel adventures together. she's currently dating another model.

style:

-she can dress casual, but sumi is a little bit extra. she loves fashion and loves to dress up, so she always goes all out. her airport fashion is something a lot of people look forward to and is a big reason she gets invitations to fashion shows.

body:

-her body is legendary. throughout her career, she struggled to gain weight. so even though sumi hates working out, she hired a personal trainer to help her. a lot of idols tend to stare at her during award seasons, because she looks that good.

tattoos:

-her first tattoo, 1958 1959, the years of when her mother and father were born, located on her left wrist.
-her next tattoo is the butterfly on her right middle finger. honestly she only got it because she thought it looked cute.
-her "be good," tattoo was something her mom always told her. those particular words were what stuck out to sumi and is there to remind her of her mom.
-her latest tattoo, "be brave," is something she lives by. she always finds herself in situations that require a lot of bravery from her, and all those memories have become some of her favorites.

piercings:

-she only has three lobe piercings on each ear and a conch piercing on her right ear
