I know this is really late! Just haven't been in the mood to write this! But I've got some ideas and I plan to update this every week or every other week! Hope you like it!

“Why are you spending Christmas with us?” Harriet asked.

“Long story short, I was supposed to be in the Bahamas, my flight got cancelled, and I have no money and no way of getting home, and even if I did, it’d be empty anyways. So George was kind enough to invite me to spend the holidays with you all!” I replied.

We were currently driving to the Shelley’s home. It was close to the airport; only a fifteen minute drive, unlike my own house, which was a good hour away.

I was sitting in the back seat, next to George. My luggage had been thrown in the back with everyone else’s, and my coffee was still in my hands, waiting for me to finish drinking it.

“So where are you from?” George asked.

“Cambridgeshire.” I responded.

“Never heard of it.” He laughed.

God. His laugh was so cute.

“Did you call your parents to let them know you’re okay?” Mrs. Shelley asked.

“Yes. I called my mum just before I met George.” I replied.

“She knows your staying with us?” George asked.

“Uh…no.”

“You should tell her.” George said.

“She’d insist on coming home. Her and dad have been planning this vacation forever; I don’t want to mess it up.” I answered.

George looked at me curiously, “I think she’d want to know that her daughter’s staying with people that she’s never met before.”

I really didn’t want to tell my mum that I was staying with George, because she’d freak out and fly home right away. Her and dad were always driving me everywhere for my swim meets, so the least I could do was let them have a peaceful vacation.  But to appease George, I said I’d call her later.

“We’re here!” Mrs. Shelley exclaimed.

We had pulled up in front of a quaint two-story house. It had an old fashioned style that I loved, yet still managed to look modern. The snow had spread softly over the house, and with the glow of the Christmas lights, it looked beautiful.

We exited the car, and went to grab my suitcase from the back, but George already had it in his hands.

“Thanks for getting it out.” I said, going to grab it from his hands.

“It’s alright. I’ve got it.” George said.

“You need to bring your suitcase in as well! I can hold my own.” I replied.

“It isn’t much, I’ve got them both. It’s okay.” He countered.

I was not going to let him take my suitcases in. I was stubborn like that. An idea suddenly popped into my head.

“George! Look!” I screeched, pointing to the sky.

“What?” he shouted, and his grip on my bag loosened.

I took the chance and grabbed it from his hands successfully, and laughed at the look on his when he realized I had tricked him.

“Hey! You tricked me!” He exclaimed as I walked towards his front door.

“Yes. I did.” I laughed, entering the house after his mother, who was smiling at us.

George pouted, and we entered the Shelley family home.  I spotted a Christmas tree up, and presents scattered around the tree.  Harriet and Will were already playfully  arguing over something in the kitchen and I felt a small burst of sadness because I had no siblings.

“You can just leave your things here. I’ll have George bring it up to the guest room after I prepare it.” Mrs. Shelley said, and I nodded.

“Want anything to eat?” George asked, setting his suitcase down.

“I had that muffin at the airport. I’m good for now.” I said.

“You sure? That isn’t a lot.”

“I’m a competitive swimmer George.  It’s healthier to eat food at set times instead of snacks randomly through the day.” I said.

“Oh yeah, you’re on a swimming scholarship, right?” George asked as we sat down in his living room.

“Yup. It’s fun.”

“Are you doing the Olympics or something?” George asked.

“The Olympic trials are in January. I’m close to qualifying for them.” I said excitedly.

“Seriously? That’s really cool!” George exclaimed.

“Enough about me,” I waved my hand, “What talents do you have?”

“Nothing really…” George said.

“By nothing really he means he’s a fabulous singer and plays the guitar.” Harriet said, plopping down on the couch with a bowl of crisps.

“I’m not that good…” George said, his cheeks colouring.

“Yes you are.”  Will said, walking into the living room and turning on the television, then turned to me, “You see, George doesn’t want to accept the fact that his voice is amazing and he refuses to do anything with his amazing voice.”

“Stop it! I just sing a bit.” George said.

“Sing something for me.” I asked.

George looked nervous for a moment, but then he opened his mouth and began to sing.

“They say, she’s in the class a team, stuck in her daydream, been this way since eighteen, but lately her face seems, slowly sinking, wasting, crumbling like pastries, but they scream, the worst things in life come free to us…” He sang, looking at me.

Damn. He was good. No, scratch that, he was amazing.

“Wow.” I said softly, “You sound absolutely fantastic George.”

George blushed, and I could tell he was uncomfortable with the attention, so I decided to change the topic.

“What show is on?” I asked Will.

“There’s football and Geordie Shore.” He responded.

“Geordie Shore.” Harriet and I said at the same time, and we laughed.

“It’s such a stupid show though!” Will said.

“It’s entertaining.” George said, shrugging., “That’s what matters.”

“Fine.” Will groaned and switched the channel to the entertaining reality show.

I felt strangely comfortable, sitting on a couch with practical strangers in their home. It was almost as if I was meant to be sitting here.
