Death had first come calling when Aurora Morgan was a small child. Upon seeing the future, Death decided Aurora was more than simply just a girl born to die, so for the first time, he spared the soul that should have been reaped. The second time had been at fifteen; Aurora had barely clung to life, but Death had been called, where he answered with a game.

See, Aurora Morgan was supposed to die, but Death's Touch resulted in Aurora seeing the dead — including her dead brother. The dead turned to Aurora despite her being powerless to help them. Being haunted should be Aurora's only worry, but things only got worse: Death himself was eager to make Aurora's life a living hell.

Following the tragedy that led to her brother's death, Aurora found returning to Forks High School harder than dealing with the dead. Aurora's comeback meant facing a school without her brother, as well as being reunited with her ex-best friend, who was now dating her ex-boyfriend.

During Aurora's absence, the strange Cullen family had also started, which had sparked enough talk around the town — almost more than the Morgan's had. Aurora couldn't help but be struck by the family, especially Emmett Cullen. Death clung to the peculiar family, so Aurora was determined to find out why.

How could someone be undead but alive at the same time? It was an answer that should have perhaps been left unanswered. Ghosts had been just one element of the supernatural world and now Aurora found herself at the centre of it.

The Cullen's were determined to help Aurora face Death, but no one could prepare the teenager for Death's true intentions. Death had a wicked game planned, and to win, Aurora needed to find a way to cheat Death.
