It was almost time for the ball; the guests would be arriving shortly. Elsa made her way to Alyssa's room, dressed in a dark royal blue dress with fur trim around the neckline. Her hair was pulled to the side in her usual braid.
She knocked gently on the door. "Alyssa? Are you almost ready?" Elsa questioned.
Alyssa wore her mother's coronation dress. It was a bluish green with a high collar and her kingdoms emblem on the chest. The top part and sleeves were black. She fastened a magenta trane around her neck. It flowed behind her and dragged along the floor. She stepped into a pair of flats. Alyssa twisted her platinum blonde hair and pinned it before putting the rest of it into a bun. She set her tiara in the twist before touching up her make up and standing. She smoothed out her dress before grabbing her gloves and putting them on. Her head turned towards the door. "Come in." She called.
Elsa opened the door and stepped inside. When she saw what Alyssa was wearing, she felt her heart leap out of her chest. She smiled adoringly at her daughter; the girl was almost a carbon copy of herself. "You look so grown up and beautiful," Elsa spoke softly.
Alyssa smiled at her mother as she fully turned towards her. "Thank you." She replied.
"The makeup is a bit much, though," Elsa said, not used to seeing her so done up like this.
Alyssa looked at her mother with a plain look. "I'm 16, not 6, Mother" she explained
Elsa raised an eyebrow. "And that's exactly my point. Maybe you can tone it down a bit."
There was another knock at the door as a man's voice spoke through the door. "Your Majesty, the guests are all here. It is time for you to make your entrances."
Alyssa smiled. "Welp, too late now." She walked towards the door, opening it.
Elsa shook her head and sighed. "Oi vey," she whispered under her breath.
Alyssa walked down the stairs along with her mother. The man's voice spoke again. "Now presenting Her Majesty, Queen Elsa of Arendelle and Her Royal Highness, Princess Alyssa Marie of Arendelle!" The doors were pulled open as they walked in, the gathering of people bowing in their presence.
The man continued to his next introduction. "Now presenting the Duke of Weaseltown!" He entered, slightly agitated.
"It's Weselton! Duke of Weselton! Do I have to spell it out for you?!"
Alyssa looked at her mother, trying to choke back a laugh.
Elsa looked over at Alyssa, desperately trying to keep her composure. "Alyssa Marie, behave," she whispered to the side.
Anna excitedly darted over to Elsa. "Elsa! I mean Your Majesty," she corrected, quickly bowing before continuing, "They brought out the dark chocolate!"
Elsa's eyes glittered with matched excitement. Before she could reply, Anna pulled her away leaving Alyssa alone.
The Duke took this as an opportunity to approach Alyssa. "Good evening, Your Highness. I couldn't help but notice you're the spitting image of your mother."
Alyssa turned to the man with a confused face. She opened her mouth to speak. "...Thank you?"
"I have to ask... Since you are indeed a carbon copy of your mother, did you inherit her sorcery as well?"
Alyssa pulled on her gloves uncomfortably. "I have." She replied, keeping her polite tone.
The Duke's expression turned dark. "Have you ever thought maybe that's why your father was the way he was?"
Alyssa was taken aback. She looked at him. "Excuse me?" She questioned, unsure of how he knew about that.
"I'm just wondering... is that why you wear the gloves? To hide yourself?" He questioned, taking her hand and pulling the glove off.
Alyssa immediately brought her hands to her chest. "I don't wish to talk about this at the moment. That's enough please." She spoke, turning and beginning to walk away.
The Duke pursued her still. "I mean, it's only a matter of time before your mother turns the same as your father-"
Alyssa lost control. "I said, that's ENOUGH!" She whipped around, her ungloved hand cutting through the air as ice flew from it creating spikes between her and the Duke.
Elsa turned and immediately found Alyssa across the room. She took in the scene before her, eyes wide, seeing that the Duke was the cause of the chaos. "You bastard," she mumbled under her breath.
"I thought we banned him from the kingdom until further notice?" Anna whispered to Elsa.
"Well it looks like he's returned without notice," Elsa retorted.
The Duke gasped dramatically. "Just what I thought. A monster just like her mother."
Elsa quickly made her way over to the pair. "What is going on here?" Her voice boomed throughout the ballroom.
Alyssa's hand found the doorknob as she fearfully ran from the ballroom towards her bedroom, her cape flying behind her.
"Alyssa, wait!" Elsa called after the girl. With no response from Alyssa, she then turned towards the Duke, her eyes burned with anger. "Guards, get him out of my sight!"
She turned her back towards the crowd. "The party is over. Close the gates." Elsa threw the doors open with her magic with an upward flick of her hand.
The guards escorted the Duke out, murmurs from the guests echoing throughout the room. Elsa then pursued Alyssa, trailing behind her up to her room.
Alyssa slammed the door behind her, locking it as she slid down the door, ice immediately spreading across it.
The door slammed before Elsa got to it. Sighing, she knocked gently. "Alyssa, please let me in."
"No. Leave me alone." Alyssa replied, her voice breaking as she choked back sobs. She brought her knees to her chest, burying her head in her arms.
"Please," Elsa pleaded, "we can talk about this. I'm here for you."
"I said no." Alyssa snapped gently. "Please just let me be." Suspended snowflakes surrounded the large room.
Sighing, Elsa slid down the door, leaning back against it. She couldn't stop the tears that formed in her eyes. "Oh mother, I wish you were here," she whispered, looking up.
