I'm screwed. It's been five months and I've managed to get on the radar of the local vamps. Jay got a job at the ski store, stocking equipment and moving boxes, while I am working at the neighboring resort as a waitress.
It was a late shift. The shift I normally have. It was like any other normal day in Breckinridge. I was one of the two waitresses/waiters working and my boss was in his office in the back room. The other waiter was taking an order, most likely alcohol, while I cleaned up behind the bar. All of a sudden an eerie feeling make my skin cover in goosebumps and the bell rang on the front door.
Two guys walk in. One was my age, maybe older. The other was clearly in his fifties or sixties. I wasn't worried. At first.
"Hey, What can I get for you guys?" I ask.
"Two waters." The older one says.
It was an odd choice, but I couldn't judge them. Maybe they were just thirsty.
"Anything to eat?" I ask them.
"You." The one my age says with a smirk.
That's when things took a turn.
"Excuse me?" I reply.
"We know what you are. Don't worry. You're like us. We all need to stick together. Come with us. Our boss wants to introduce you." The young one says.
"I'm good. I think you should leave. I don't even know you." I say.
"That might be true, but you know my brother, Kyle. Or should I say Kylian." He says.
"I can't leave now. Plus I have a friend. He'll know if I don't show up something happened." I say.
"Is he a?" He asks.
"No." I sigh and remain calm so he can't tell that I'm lying.
"Hey boss I need to head out early. Family emergency. Is that okay?" I ask him.
"Yes. You're not getting paid for the remaining time of your shift though!" He shouts back as I walk out with the two guys on either side of me.
"So where exactly are we going?" I ask.
"To the pit. It's a place our gang hangs out. We run the west side vamps. I'm Dom by the way. Short for Dominic. That's some bodyguard. Don't mind him." Dom, the young one, says.
"Katherine." I reply, using my fake name.
We walk for a good thirty minutes until we reach a large area with tents everywhere and a large fire pit in the center. I could hardly smell the blood, but it was everywhere. People were drinking each other's blood and I surprised to know that not one human was in the area. There was a cabin on the outskirts of the area which is where I was being brought to.
The older bodyguard had left us a while back and Dom opened the door for me.
"Boss. We found another V (vampire)." Dom says.
"Name?" The guy in his late thirties asked from his large chair that resembled a throne.
"Katherine. Lewis." I say hesitantly.
"Why do you need me? I'm kinda fine on my own." I say. Dom looks at me worriedly.
"You found a fiesta one huh. You see, we need people. The east side wolf pack led by a man name Mr Lamorowski is weaker than ever with the death of his pathetic daughter and we need to strike. So we're bringing in as many people as we can. And no, we don't have women fight. However, we need to use you guys to have kids, preferably boys, to add to our army. Luckily for you, you get our captain. Probably will give the kid great genes. Dom. Take her to Calvin." He says and Dom grabs me tightly along with two other men and I am blinded by the hood they put on my head.
