Sari Batawi on her New EP, Celebrity Crush and Other Things

indonesian singer and songwriter Sari Batawi, better known as 'sari' is truly a force to be reckoned with. Sari has only been in the music industry for a few years now, but she has gained a huge following.

some might know her as adrian wiranata's childhood best friend, but she has gained her own face in the industry! her first single titled "see you never" came out in the last two years, and has already gained millions of views and listens.

when sari was in new york with adrian, we just had to ask her to come in for an interview!

"sari! how are you today?"

"i'm great, how are you?"

"i'm okay, thank you! to start of with the interview, could you talk about your recently released EP 'zephyr'?"

"of course! zephyr has eight songs: newsflash!, say my name, friends, spell, vintage, dancing with the devil, pools, and around! i'm immensely proud of all eight songs, so much so that i call them my babies to adrian and sofia!"

"that's so sweet! what is your favourite song off of the EP?"

"it's so hard, but i'd have to say, 'say my name' because it's very much the song you can vibe to while driving!"

"that's true! now, almost all songs have you singing about a significant other, are you in a relationship?"

"nope!"

"do you have any celebrity crushes?"

laughs "yeah i do, it's timothée chalamet!"

"why's he your celebrity crush?"

"he's incredibly talented, and i love his laugh!"

"he is a very talented actor. now more about you, who inspire you the most?"

"definitely my parents because without them i obviously wouldn't be here! also adrian and sofia because they stood by me even when i sent them random lyrics and beats at 3am!"

"now if i'm correct, adrian was actually the person who got you a record deal?"

"yes! he had already previously signed with 88, and he showed the label a few of my covers and they signed me!"

"do you mainly stay in los angeles or in jakarta?"

"i mainly stay in los angeles now, but i visit indonesia as much as i can. i also visit new york a lot because sofia lives here."

"you sure travel a lot!"

laughs "you could say that"

"sadly, this is all the time we have for today but it was a pleasure to meet you sari! we at wonder news wish you the best in your career!"
