"(y/n)-chan," Leorio chides, "you have to tell us you're running off before you run off!"

"It wouldn't be running off then, would it?"

You look down at the damage you've accrued from your battle with Hisoka. You tsk in both annoyance and pain, rubbing at your freshly bandaged wrist. The battle would've been far more fulfilling if you remembered any of it. You reach into every pocket of your memory, coming up empty handed.

Exasperated, you take in your surroundings instead, finding they consist of a dingy, dirt path in the middle of a vast forest. You're sitting in the center of the path, propped against a large boulder that blocked the way. Leorio beside you, his staggering height far exceeding your own, especially as you sit and stare up at him as he stands above you. His eyebrows are furrowed, fists clenched. There were only two people here just moments ago, you and Hisoka, who has now been replaced by Leorio and—

"Princess," Kurapika yells, waving at you as he runs up. His blonde hair has gotten notably longer, bangs covering his eyes. Still, he managed to find an opening to see you, his surprise at your injuries written clearly on his features for merely a second. Then, miraculously, he hides his horror and it transforms into comfort, assurance. He stops in front of you and bows with one hand extended over his chest, the other behind his back.

You blush and use your good hand to rub your neck in embarrassment. "I-I'm not a princess anymore, Kurapika. You don't really have to call me that..."

Your sentence trails off, along with any sense of feeling comfortable. It's not Kurapika that sends you spirally into an awkward pile of insecurities—it's the title he still calls you by. It's been three years since your family was murdered, the crown and kingdom stolen. A memory of the past. You don't want the crown back, it's far too late for that, but vengeance? Vengeance sounded nice.

You look down at your bandaged-up forearms. Some are new, but a few have grown discolored from how long they've been wrapped around your skin. There are deep scars under there, throbbing after each kill as nen rushes through you. Now, they are stagnant, the cuts on your wrist in pain due to the stitches coming apart during your fight. You look up to find Leorio is still staring down at you, looking at you quizzically. "Seriously," he says, "you're so reckless."

"And you're so argumentative. Can we be done pointing out each other's flaws now?"

Kurapika extends a hand and pulls you up. You groan from the pain and stumble slightly, now realizing your right knee has been compromised. It hurts like hell, and the only way you're able to stay standing is Leorio wrapping his arm around yours. You fall back on his chest. His heart is hammering, a sense of nervousness rising from his aura. You look back up at him for a brief moment.

You expect to see him looking back, but he's focused on holding you up and walking. You flush, because of course you do, and hop forward with him, secretly enjoying his embrace. Every so often, he'd trip over his own feet to the car. They help you all the way there, tossing you in the backseat as though you didn't just beat someone up. Supposedly beat them up, anyway.

Leorio takes the wheel, Kurapika in the seat next to him. You lean against the door behind Kurapika and stare out the window as you pass the endless trees, watching them zoom by. "Thank you, Leo-san."

He pushes on the brakes and whips his head around, invisible fumes raising from his head and lips. "My name is Mr. Leorio. Where did Leo even come from?"

"I'm sorry Leo-rio," you respond, ready to block whatever attack he's about to throw your way. Instead, his face goes hard, his voice more serious than you've ever heard in your life.
