"You are messing it up on purpose!" Reagan shouted at Charlie who was flipping his durum sticks from hand to hand, a nervous habit. We had been working on our latest song and Reagan couldn't seem to hit the high note, her and Charlie broke up a week ago and now it seems the band is falling apart.

"Charlie hit his notes fine," I said, Charlie had been my best friend for years I didn't care how good a singer Reagan is.

"Oh! So what you're defending him now!" Reagan now directed her anger at me.

"Yeah, you know hard that note is guys." Jake, our bassist, said.

"Could you all shut up and play the damn song! this is a huge performance tomorrow!" Sofia stood from behind the piano and yelled.

"Yeah good luck, you guys can do it without me." Reagan grabbed her bag and stormed to the door.

"Reagan come on wait!" Jake yelled at her back, she simply threw up the middle finger and kept walking. Sofia collapsed down on her bench and Jake swore under his breath.

"I'll go talk to her," Charlie announced.

"I don't think that's a good idea," I stated.

"I know that not a good idea." Sofia corrected.

"Yeah no, lets just cut our loses for today and figure out what we are gonging to do tomorrow," Jake said placing his bass in his case.

"Yeah, that's probably for the best." Sofia agreed.

We packed up our stuff and silently left the abandoned building. Reagan found a building that was under construction and never got finished, we took over the bottom floor. The space was small since there was plie wood where the walls to rooms should be, but we made it work and now it feels like a home away from home. I walked with my guitar in hand and my backpack slung over my shoulder, Boston was currently at the perfect temperature for a sweatshirt.Reagan was nothing if she wasn't a drama queen, but she never would joke about leaving the band. Maybe she would join again, but she would make us hurt before that, she would wait till all of our biggest performances pasted and then come back. I slapped the elevator button to get up to my apartment, when it didn't light up I slapped it again, then a third time, finally I gave up and pushed the door for the stairway open. a few seconds after I opened the door and echoey voice sang from the top of the stairway. I kept the door from slamming and continued to listen, she was singing Alicia Keys Fallin, it came to the high note and she sang it like she didn't have a care in the world. I ran up the stairs hoping to catch this girl before she made it to her room. After three flights of stairs, I saw her on the next landing, she was dancing like she was the only person in the world. I smiled at her spinning form, and realized why she couldn't hear me, I was hearing the song from her earbuds. The girl stopped, she jumped backwards and screamed when she saw me a few stairs below her.

She riped out her earbuds and yelled "What the hell!"

"Uh, hi." I said, her eyes widened a bit and she pulled a bottle of pepper spray from her purse, "Woah, Woah, Woah!" I threw both my hands in the air where she could see them. "I'm not trying to hurt you or anything!" I shout at her.

"Then why the hell are you sneaking up on me!" She yelled pointing the pepper spray at my eyes.

"I wasn't really sneaking..." I couldn't help but smile and nod down at her earbuds hanging from the collar of her shirt.

"oh... so you were just trying to get to your apartment?" she began to lower the pepper spray."well kind of." I said, her hand shot back reaming the spray, I couldn't help the laugh that escaped "Chill, Chill, I can explain."

"Well, go on then, prove to me that you aren't a serial killer," she said.

"I heard your voice, my band lost our lead singer today..." I let the statement wander off.

"Are you asking me to join your band right now?" The girl lifted a single brow.

"Not exactly, we have a huge performance tomorrow and I think the band will take you," I said, hoping to get a positive response and not an eye full of pepper spray.

"So like a test run, see if I work well with your band?" she questioned.

"Exactly!" I exclaimed.

"I need some prof your actually in a band," she said lower the spray, I let out a sigh of relief.

"Yeah here." I pulled out my phone and got a video of our latest performance, it was at a bar but it was still a great performance.

"Okay, what does this performance entail?' she questioned.

I smiled feeling triumphant, "Its just one song, theirs a bunch of bands there and a bunch of people who can get you far in the music industry." I said.

"And this song is...?" she looked at me expectantly.

"Bad Romance, the rock version" I state.

"theirs quite a high note in that song." She replied.

"one of the reasons our lead left," I said not bothering to conceal my annoyance.

"she left because of a fucking note in a song! god she sounds like a whiny bitch!" This girl seemed exasperated at Regan, and to be honest, she captured her essences perfectly.

"Whiny bitch is a very good way to describe her," I said.

"Alright I'm in, I'm Sam by the way," she said smiling and putting out her hand.

"Noah," I replied taking her hand, I finally seemed to notice her beauty. Her hair was dyed a dirty blond with brown roots, she had endless blue eyes, except for s splash of brown in one eye.

"Your eyes are insane," I said without thinking.

She let out a laugh and smile at me "why thank you very much." she said. "so uh quick question," she looked down at her watch, "You mind if you show me the general flow of the song?" she asked.

I clicked on my phone quickly to check the time, it was 7, I didn't think it would take to long, "yeah sure" I agreed. "My apartment is up this way.
