Marshall flew home in a blur, wiping tears from his eyes. He couldn't see where he was going and nearly ran into a few trees but, flew on, hoping he was going in the right direction. He...he loves me? Love as in...love love? Like how I love raising the dead or...or like...true love? Gah!
Marshall grew frustrated and landed on his porch, kicking the door. It opened without hesitsation and he flew in, flopping onto the shabby couch with a grunt. He picks up his axe bass and flips a switch on his recording device. An instramental of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" started up and Marshall hummed along, strumming to the beat.
"Oh~
Want your bad romance
I want your ugly,
I want your disease
I want your everything as long as it's free
I want your love~
Love! Love! Love!
I want your love~
I want your drama
The touch of your hand
I want your leather-studded kiss in the sand
I want your love~
Love! Love! Love!
I want your love~
You know that I want you
And you know that I need you
I want it bad, want your bad romance~"
He sighs and sets down his bass, pressing stop on the recording. All he could think about was Gumball... He'd always had a crush on the prince. He thought it was fun to tease him but, he didn't know yet if he loved him completely. He hoped he hadn't upset him...
A hand came out of the shadows and clamped a rag over his mouth. Marshall struggled but soon grew too weak to resist being carried away...
**************
Prince Gumball spent the afternoon in his lab, doing anything he could to keep the vampire off of his mind. No matter what he did though, Marshall was still on his mind. They'd only spent one night together but, Gumball was sure he was falling in love with Marshall. Perhaps...I said it too soon...I might have scared him.
Gumball straightened up and looked down at his work. He'd constructed a large machine that should-if built correctly-open a pathway to another possible reality. All it needed was some sort of...activation piece. Clueless, the prince pulled a sweater over his head and slinked out into the early evening. He hadn't eaten all day but, the thought of food alone made his stomach churn. He found himself heading towards Marshall's house and scoffed, immediately turning to walk to Fionna and Cake's treehouse.
He knocks on their door and bites the inside of his cheek. Cake the cat opened the door and exclaimed for him to come in. The prince attempted to smile and failed, blinking back tears instead.
"Oh baby." Cake said sympathetically, dragging him upstairs. She stopped in front of the couch where Fionna was playing video games. Gumball's head hung low, his hair casting a shadow over his sad features.
"Oh Glob, what happened to you?" Fionna asks, setting down her controller.
"M-marshall..." Gumball forced out with a sob.
"Oh that boy! I'll show him what's for!" Cake stretched into a buff person and pounded her fist into her palm.
The prince panicked and his eyes widen, "Nononononodon'thurthim." he said in a rush.
"Calm down Cake. Gumball, what happened?" Fionna asked again, looking concerned.
Gumball sighs and tells them the whole story, not leaving out even one detail. The two girls were plum red when he finished and he slapped a hand over his mouth, realizing what he'd said.
"S-s-sorry." he stutters, fumbling backwards a bit. Fionna stood up and slung her backpack over her shoulders. "Wh-what are you d-doing?"
"We're going to talk to Marshall." She says, grabbing Gumball's wrist and dragging him out of the treehouse. Cake stretches big enough to carry them and they climb onto her back.
Many minutes later they arrive at Marshall Lee's little house. The front door stood ajar and he was no where to be found inside. They searched they searched the entire house and found nothing. The prince tripped over Marshall's music recorder and it played back his last recording. Gumball was blushing a bright red at the words and hid his face in his hands. At the end of Marshall's singing, a static-like voice crackled through,
"To whomever is listening, don't worry. My little Marshall is in good hands. Isn't that right baby?" The trio could hear muffled screams in the background and plenty of struggling. The crackly voice laughed and then silence. The recorder beeped, signaling the end of the recording. Tears were forming in Gumball's eyes. threatening to spill over.
"Oo! Oo! I know where they are!" Cake exclaims excitedly, grabbing the two and racing out the door.
"Woah! Cake, slow down!" Fionna held onto Gumball, not wanting to fall off of the large cat bounding through the woods.
Gumball sniffled but, was determined to find Marshall and make sure he was okay. He loved Marshall and there was no way he was letting some stranger take him away.
