I watched as it stumbled across the open field towards me his skin green and decomposing, his eyes sunken into their sockets, I tried to run from this creature, this thing I had seen all over the news the creatures that were killing thousands of people daily, but I couldn’t, I couldn’t move. I could see the rotten teeth in its mouth the claw like nails at the ends of its bony fingers. I screamed for Tyson to run get inside the house to leave me and save himself from this monster making its way towards us.

-1 hour earlier-

‘Mum! Can I go play outside?’ my 10 year old son Tyson whined to me, ‘Fine, make sure you stay close though it’s getting late in the afternoon’ He nodded his little head and raced towards the front door, I shook my head a his excitement to play outside and walked to the kitchen to start to cook dinner.

I could see Tyson playing in the field on his motor bike, his bright smile practically glowing; I turned on the television to watch the early news before Tyson came in for dinner. A new flash caught my attention nearly causing me to cut my fingers with the knife I was using for dinner.  ‘There is wide spread occurrences across the country of this epidemic causing people to turn into these creatures or as the people are calling them… zombies…’ I put down my knife and turned up the volume to listen ‘People are being warned to stay inside and away from windows and doors, this epidemic has taken the lives of over 3 thousand people in the past 2 days, it has not spread most of North America and is moving to other counties fast, again I urge people to stay indoors and to keep safe’

‘TYSON’ I yelled out remembering my son outside, I ran to the door and threw it open to see if I could find my son anywhere I grabbed a baseball bat for protection in case. ‘TYSON’ I shouted ‘TYSON COME HERE, GET IN SIDE’ you could hear the panic in my voice I searched for my son everywhere I ran until my legs were jelly, then I saw him out in the field leaning over his bike, fiddling with the chain. I ran to him and hugged him against my chest then I saw it…

-present-

I shoved Tyson towards the house, ‘Tyson run, I’ll catch up but I can’t run right now, get inside the house lock all the doors and get in the basement’ I told him with force ‘But what about you mum?’ he asked you could hear the pain and panic in his voice. ‘Go Tyson now’ I said as the creature loomed ever closer. I stood firm and I could see Tyson shaking but nod and take off running towards the house. I held my bat steady I would not let any monster take my son away from me and I would protect him till my last breathe if need be.

When the creature reached me I could see the foam dripping from its mouth as it out stretched its decaying fingers towards me, I held my ground and when it was almost close enough to touch me…

I swung…
