synopsis

When her boyfriend unexpectedly dumped her, Kyra Bennett thought her story had ended. After he left for a summer of business travels with his parents, Kyra had nothing to look forward to except a long summer doing grunt work as an intern for her parents' newspaper publication.

Just as she starts to get comfortable with her life coming to a halt, Kyra gets assigned to do a spread on the town's local coffee shop called Clara's. What's meant to be a low-profile article quickly turns into something so much more. As she gets tied up in the life of the shop--including calm, cool, and collected Jason who seems to be completely unaffected by everything--she begins to learn that beginnings and endings aren't always what they seem.

In the process, though, Kyra discovers several backdoor business deals that threaten the fate of Clara's. Facing the endings of her past but also the potential ending of the shop, Kyra has no choice but to wonder what exactly happens when the story ends?

author's note

For those who are new, welcome. For the few who have been here for a while, welcome back.

I've been largely inactive on this platform for many, many years. Once I went off to college, I tucked away writing to focus on my schoolwork. Recently, though, I've experienced a re-awakening, which led me back here.

This story has been in the works for several years. Originally, I wrote it as part of my "Genevieve Series," and it looked very different than what I'm posting now. It's still a part of the Genevieve world (that my novel Station 429 is set in), but the story is completely different. With that said, if anyone is here who read Station 429, please note: there may be inconsistencies between the Genevieve of Station and the Genevieve in this story. I'm in the process of reworking the entire world, and I plan to revisit Station sometime in the future :-)

This novel marks the beginning of a new era of sorts. I thought of taking down all my previous writing, but those stories are part of my journey and I want them to stay on my profile as a reminder of where I started (even if they make me cringe a lot). If there is anyone returning to my work, I'm excited to start this new journey with you.

Lastly, thank you for clicking on this book. I love interacting with my readers, so please don't shy away from voting or commenting. I'm always wanting feedback!

Tentative uploading schedule: Mondays and Saturdays.

-With love, Abby
