Bree❤❤Arielle POV
School is out in a couple hours. I'm skipping my last few classes to hang with a few friends at this park up the street from our school. I wasn't going to skip with them but I was tired of listening to them teachers talk all day so I came with them.
We were sitting here talking and joking around when Carmen pulled a blunt out of her back pack.
She lit it and took a puff before passing it to Dani.
Dani: Here Ari.
Me: Y'all got perfume or sum in y'all car cause if my dad smell this on me, I'm dead.
Santiago: I got some in my car.
Me: Cool.
I took the blunt and took a couple puffs. I don't smoke a lot because I know this weed will have me off my shit. I'll be acting strange asf.
I handed the blunt back to Dani.
We just chilling and smoking when we hear footsteps.
I turn around and it's a cop walking towards us.
Oh shit. No. Not today.
Me: Put that shit out Carmen.
She pushed it into the ground before the cop made it over to us. I recognized him. He's my brother, Mateo's partner. Did I forget to mention my oldest brother followed in our father's footsteps and is now an officer. Yeah. This man scares me as much as our father does. He literally will not hesitate to snatch me up in public.
Officer Baylor walked up to us. I put my head down in hopes that he wouldn't recognize me.
Officer Baylor: You kids are supposed to be in school right now. Why are you all out here in the park?
He sniffed.
Officer Baylor: And why do I smell marijuana? None of you move.
Fuck.
I stayed with my head down as another officer walked up.
I knew immediately that it was Mateo.
Officer Baylor: They are skipping school and some, if not all of them, has been smoking.
Mateo: Well I guess we're taking them all down to the station and calling their parents.
Little does he know it's me and our dad is already at the damn station.
Officer Baylor: All of you up.
Dani, Carmen, and Santiago all stood up. I didn't wanna move. He gone knock my ass out.
Officer Baylor: Young lady, you need to get up.
I slowly stood up, being conscious of keeping my face hidden. Didn't work.
Mateo: Arielle? I know this is not my baby sister out here in this park getting high.
Me: It's not. My name is Marie.
He glared at me.
Mateo: Really? So your name isn't Arielle Hernandez, daughter of Javier Hernandez, Sergeant at the Oakland Police Department.
Me: Okay, it's me.
Mateo: Yeah, no shit.
Damn it. He's mad. He literally never curses.
