After the scene back at the market, Nick was still in frozen shock. He couldn't understand it. An actual good looking, pleasant man actually gave him their phone number. As the day grew weaker and the night grew stronger Nick got the idea to head back to his apartment and made his way through the flashing lights, street performers and yelling drunken people.
As the elevator door opened to the very familiar hallway of his home, Nick saw one of his few friends at his door. It was Leah. Crying. Loudly."Oh not again..." Nick thought to himself.
He walked up to her and kneeled down to see her face.
"Harry?" Nick asked.
Leah nodded hard indicating a yes.
"Come on" Nick said pulling the crying girl up from the floor.
Nick opened the door while feeling the salty tears flow down his shoulder. When they walked through the door a blast of warm air hit them. He grabbed Leah's hand and brought her into the living room. He dropped her into the armchair carefully.
"Tea?" Nick asked sympathetically.
"P-p-please" Leah stuttered.
Nick left the living room and went to the kitchen. He turned on the kettle and made a sweet tea. Nick made his way back to the curled up Leah on the chair and handed her the hot drink. Time had passed and Leah was able to speak a few words now. Nick decided to make the choice of asking what had happened.
"So what did Harry do now?" Nick asked.
"He said "we shouldn't be together anymore. I don't see a future with us in it."" Leah said madly. "Like seriously? At least think of a better excuse for god's sake."
Nick knew exactly why Harry had left her. One Christmas party that Nick (and Aaron) hosted, Leah brought along Harry. And Harry met one of Aaron's friends...Louis...and one thing led to another... But this was not the time to break the news to her. So he went along with it.
"Well maybe it's for the best. Now you can meet the real man of your dreams" Nick advised.
"Maybe I could become a lesbian" Leah said enthusiastically "I have Cerys. Like she would go lesbian with me I think."
"Woah. Let's not get too hasty shall we?"
"Shhhhh"
Nick knew what would happen. She would find a girl and go out with her for a day and say "Nah. Not interested." But it would be hilarious, so he sat back and watch her plan out her "new life".
"So do you want to?" Leah asked.
Nick woke up from his daydream.
"Sorry, what?" Nick replied.
"Ugh. Can I set you up with a guy? Like its been a few months now since-sorry"
"It's fine. Don't worry about it. Um no, please don't set me up."
"Why? Do you already have a date or something?" Leah sniggered.
"Actually yes, yes I do"
He shouldn't've said that. She makes a big deal out of everything. But this. She'll be on this for days.
"WHAT?!?" she exclaimed over-dramatically.
"Yeah. A guy gave me his phone number at the market today."
"Are you going to go on a date with him?"
"I don't know..."
"You have to!"
"Why?"
"Because I know what's best for you." Leah smirked reminding Nick of Ethan.
"I'll think about it."
"Whatever then..."
After Leah finally left, Nick got into bed at 11:34PM. He was still thinking whether he should call Ethan or not. It had been a while since he'd gone on a date. Maybe he should. Yeah. Nick turned on the bedside lamp and got the piece of paper with the phone number and his mobile phone. He dialled the numbers on the screen and put his ear to the small speaker. It ringed for a while and he was about to hang up when the masculine voice that Nick recognised said "Hello?"
"Um hi. It's me. Nick." he said embarrassingly but eager.
"Oh hi. That was quick."
Shit.
"Oh sorry."
"No. I was hoping you would call tonight."
Yay.
"Oh cool."
"..."
"..."
"So did you want to say anything?"
"Oh. Yeah. Um. Do you maybe want to go on a date or something?"
"Yes! I mean. Yeah. Sure. Why not. This Friday? 9PM? I'll pick you up at your place?"
"9PM?" Nick thought. "Well there goes my nothing but eating plans"
"Yeah that sounds great"
"Cool. I'll see you then."
"Bye"
"Bye"
Nick finally found out this is real.
