When your writing a book you want your readers to stay interested. To do this you should always avoid repeating a problem, add new characters constantly, create mounds of drama. It's easy to start a story but harder to keep it interesting. People sometimes want something completely new! You can focus on a different character for a while to spice things up. You can even ask your readers what should happen next. Not giving up on a story is hard because you'll eventually run out of ideas. Just remember you can always come back here to look for answers!
My favorite part of stories is the adding of new characters so here are a few character ideas to hep keep your story interesting:
The Smarty Pants: Tries to convince the other characters to make smart choices but is usually ignored. They usually figure everything out chapters before the other characters do so their not surprised when something big happens.
The Comedian: Makes jokes constantly no matter what situation their in. They good get stabbed in the chest and reply to the person who did it with "That was rude". They never seem scared or upset but on the inside they are very insecure and fearful.
The Bad-ass: Cusses constantly, usually picks fights with people twice their size, and all-ways has a crush on the most unlikely character to like them back. Their funny because their all-ways pissed off about something but in the end they save the day.
The Quiet One: Hides in the back of the group, rarely speaks, cries constantly but usually sells their souls to the devil so they can impress someone. They usually have a crush on the leader of the group and they make wonderful drama addicts.
The Snob: Thinks they're the best at everything, usually fights with the bad-ass, related to the shy one sometimes just to make it interesting. Super dumb, Super Rich, and super dead. Usually gets killed off in a heroic or dumb way because of their selfishness.
