Chapter 3
Mia arrived at the hospital, still in thoughts about how she was going to get herself and her mum out of the house.

Thankfully, her mum looked better than she had yesterday and didn’t look like she was in so much pain. “Mum, how are you feeling? She asked. “Much better, and how did you get me here” her mum asked? Mia smiled as she recalled every thing that happened few hours ago.
“ Lets just say you were brought right on time, mum we need to leave the house you know there is no one else if I lose you.” Mia said as her eyes began to tear up. “Hey, hey don’t worry sweetheart everything is going to be fine I know you have being through a lot these few days and I’ve made up my mind.

We’re leaving, I thought your dad was going to change that’s why I stayed through all this abuse, I guess it’s about time we move. Your dad and I wanted to surprise you with a house on your 20th birthday.

So we’re going to move in and figure out what to do first. Mia nodded agreeing to everything her mum said. Dr. Appiah will be here soon to discharge you. Mia said as she served her mum with the soup she prepared. Mia sat quietly as her mum finished the meal.

Dr. Appiah signed the discharge papers and Mia and her mum were ready to leave. The driver met them at the entrance and helped with the overnight bag Mia was holding. They settled in the car and off they went.

Few minutes later, they arrived home and Abigail, was relieved when she realized that her husband wasn’t at home, it was better that way.
Abigail knew she was likely to stay if her husband was to  plead with her. Which he was always good at doing after he caused a damage.
Mia walked to her room and started to pack her stuff, seven boxes later she was done, but something caught her eyes as she was getting up from the floor.
It was a picture frame of her best friend Rose and her when they were six. She quickly hid the picture and continued t her packed stuff. She didn’t want the memories  hunting her. Mia decided to go check on her mum and was surprised to see her still in the position she left her.
Abigail wiped her face immediately she knew she wasn’t alone. Abigail always blamed herself about the fact that she wasn’t able to have a son for her husband.
“ Mum”.

Mia kneeled in front of her mum rubbing her back gently. Mum We're going to be fine.

I know you still love dad, but we can’t continue to live like this. He is hurting you and that’s not  good, and you and I know that we can’t do anything but to get far away from him. Abigail nodded and gave Mia a weak smile. They both worked together and two hours later everything was packed into the booth of the car.

They arrived in East Legon 45 minutes later. The house was a storey building and was painted in the darkest shade of gray.

Baba the driver helped with their boxes, since the house was already furnished, they only had to bring they’re clothes. Mia would have being happy to explore the building but given the circumstances, she was in no mood to do anything.

All clothes were packed and Baba was on his way back to the Cochraine residence.

(Buatimah  residence)
“Clara you’re going to be late for school” Peter said as he entered the kitchen were her sister was having her breakfast.
Clara ignored her brother chewing the food as slow as possible. Clara? “Don’t talk to me until we find Mia and thank her for what she did for me. Peter rolled his eyes “ Clara she is a stranger who just helped you, also it being a week now forget about her already”. “No! She’s my friend and not a stranger I want to see her again”. Clara replied as her lips began to tremble”. “No, no don’t cry I’ll find her, don’t worry”. Peter promised in hope of stopping her from crying. He sighed when he realized that her face ligtened up immediately but instantly realized the mistake he just made. Clara was six but that girl had a memory of an adult.

Peter shook his head as he realized there was no way in hell was he going to find this Mia girl..
