BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! My alarm was going off. I sighed and turned it off, looking at the time. It read six thirty. I guess this only meant one thing...
"Bexley!" I hear my mother yell. "It's time for school!" I groan. Why? I slowly get up, immediately getting dizzy as I start to walk. I dragged myself into my bathroom, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I looked at myself in the mirror. My lips looked super crusty and pale, my hair was a rats nest, and don't even get me started on my face. Sheesh.
I grabbed my toothbrush and slowly brushed my teeth, thinking about school. Will there be nice people in my classes this year? I shrugged. Probably not.. High-schoolers are rude. I spit out the toothpaste that was in my mouth, and got a mouthful of water, rinsing my mouth out. I grabbed a comb and brushed it through my hair. It looked slightly presentable... Good enough for me!
I walked back into my room, and straight into my closet. I stared at my clothes. Nothing looked interesting so far.... Ooo... a red tank top and maybe a black skirt? Or... a denim jacket and leggings? Hmm...
After finally choosing an outfit, I waltz out of my closet, looking into my full length mirror. I admired the red tank top I wore. It was a very pretty ruby red color. My hair looked alright today. I always thought that red looked good with my platinum blonde hair. I walk out of my bedroom, hurrying down the stairs, and into the kitchen. My mother looked at me as I entered.
"There you are!" She said with a sigh, handing me a plate of food. The plate contained two pieces of bacon, a blueberry muffin, and some scrambled eggs.
"Thanks, mom." I said with a smile, setting my plate down on the kitchen table. I turned around, about to head to the coffee pot, when my mom suddenly appears behind me holding a coffee mug. I gently grab it and look inside.
"Don't worry. There's no sugar in it. Just creamer." She said with a smile.
"Thank you." She kissed my cheek and gestured me to sit down. She grabbed her own cup of coffee, sitting with me.
"So," she started, "do you think you're ready for your final first day of high school?" I tapped my cup with my nails.
"I mean," I took a sip of my coffee. "I think I'm ready..?" I sighed. "I don't know." She shook her head.
"Bex..." She rubbed my arm. "You don't have to be so gloomy with everything all the time."
"I'm not though." I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes you are," she laughed. "You're just a mopey little baby. Like," she began to imitate me, "'aww mom I don't want to go to school. I want to sleep. I hate people.'" I furrowed my eyebrows at her, and she just stared back at me with a blank expression.
"Okay, okay," I finally gave up, laughing. "I get it. But, that is a terrible impression of me." She just smiled.
"Just have a good day at school today, okay sweetie?" She kissed my cheek once more, standing up. "I have to head to work, but I love you!"
"Love you too, mom." I smiled as she walked out. I shook my head as I ate my breakfast. I love my mom, but she can be so strange sometimes. After I finished eating, I put my dish in the sink, picking up my backpack. I exhaled slowly before leaving the house.

It was time. I was at school, and I was a nervous wreck. I honestly didn't even know why. I just keep having this odd feeling...that something is going to happen...something...bad. I take a deep breath. Don't think too much on this, I thought to myself, you'll be okay. You'll see your friends, and all will be well.
I slowly walked through the hallway. I heard a few people sigh loudly behind me, and walk ahead. I knew people would probably be annoyed with me, but I didn't know what else to do. My feet didn't want to move another inch, but I had to, I have to force myself to go, even if I really, really don't want to...
"Bex?" I hear a voice screech loudly. I whip around, seeing my best friend Maia standing only a few feet away from me.
"Maia!" I shouted, running towards her, holding my arms out. Only in about a second we were in each others arms.
"I've missed you so much!" She says with a smile, releasing me.
"Same here Maia."
"You look so great!" She looks me up and down, snapping her fingers. "You're gonna be getting all the boys' attention." I just laughed.
"I look like a leftover piece of bacon compared to you. You look like you've just been fried up nice and fresh." I tried to say with confidence. She just stared at me, then burst out into a fit of laughter.
"Oh my God," she laughed, "That was the worst compliment I have ever heard...but thank you." She wiped her eyes as I shrugged.
"I'm not exactly the best at complimenting, or just being a normal human..." I mumbled. She just smiled.
"It's alright girl, you're beautiful. At least you got that going for you."
"Thanks." I chuckled. Maia and I exchanged schedules, to see if we had any classes together.
"Hey!" She squealed. "We have College Prep Writing and Photography together!" I shrieked with her.
"Oh, yes! Thank goodness." I gave her a quick hug.
"Can you two please shut up?" A voice asked. I turned around, furrowing my eyebrows, a very tall guy filling my vision.
"Excuse me?" I said with astonishment.
"You heard me. You two are so loud. It actually is mind-boggling." He rolled his eyes. I looked the guy up and down. He was about six foot five with shaggy brown hair and dark blue eyes. He raised an eyebrow at me, and smirked. "Admiring my beauty?" He asked.
"Yeah," I scoffed. "Sure. Totally. Whatever you think, 'Mr. Hot-Shot.'" I rolled my eyes, grabbing Maia's arm. "Now if you'll excuse us, we need to go to class."
"Bye ladies." He said in a singsong tone, turning around, and walking away. I growled to myself.
"What -" Maia stuttered. "What was that?" She finally asked.
"What?" I asked with an annoyed tone slightly rising in my voice.
"You, Bexley Anne Nickles, never once, in your life have ever had that attitude with a complete stranger!" She said in shock. I just shrugged.
"Look, he was being a jerk to both me and you." I explained. "If it was just me, than maybe I wouldn't have, but if someone is going to say something rude about my best friend, then I am going to say something." I raised my eyebrow at her. She sighed in defeat, letting go of the subject.
"Fine.." She sighed. "Let's go to class." She slumped down as she walked. I practically had to drag her to class. Maia and I had our first hour together, which was the class photography.
